Does African American Hair Grow Faster When Out Or In Braids???

jus curious cuz im tryna grow my hair!

i wear it out sumtimesz

but mostly i have cornrows

so i was wondering if cornrows contribute yo my hair length =D

Does African American Hair Grow Faster When Out Or In Braids???

Cornrows is the best possible way to wear your hair to grow it out. Why? Black hair is extremely curly and the most delicate of all hair types. Natural oils are closest to the root. With curly hair the ends get dry and break without sufficient moisture. This is why black hair never appears to grow. When you cornrow your hair, you protect the ends. You need to shampoo and deep condition every two to four weeks with this style. Curly hair is distressed when shampooed too often. Use natural oils on it like shea butter, jojoba oil, coconut oil, olive oil, etc. Your hair will grow very long!! I recommend that you change the style of the cornrows so as not to place too much stress on any one area of the scalp! Great lengths to you!

I think they do...they give your own hair a break...a break from curling irons and chemicals.

i don't know, but try mane %26amp; tail shampoo and conditioner, it makes your hair really shiny and nice and helps it grow out faster..

I think it actually grows faster in cornrows.but i'm not completely positive.

i don't have african american hair, but i would guess that cornrowing your hair would break it off and damage it. also just letting it grow without perming it straight would help it grow. it'd look like an afro for a while, though. keep lots of pink lotion in it and maybe wear a do rag or something. i know african american hair is SO hard to grow out. (got lots of friends)

good luck, these are just my opinions, don't really know for sure what would help.

i think it grows faster with braids but if you let the braids be too tight, it could cause breakage. if you prefer to leave it down though, you should get regular trims, use a good conditioner, and make sure your hair creams are not petroleum-based. hope this helps.

If you keep braiding your hair it will grow out faster. I used to wear a weave and under the weave I had my hair cornrowed and then the weave sown into the cornrows. My hair was so long after I took it out. The reason is some of the natural oil stays in the hair and it helps it grow. Keep the braiding up and you will have longer hair. Just make sure you are keeping your scalp greased. Hope that helps.

cornrows but don't forget to get it trimmed. don't get it straightened or permed before you get it braided because that will break it!

I think it does. I have mine braided with a sew in. I'm hoping my hair will be longer and stronger when I take them out.

yea it does I keep my hair in braids for bout a year and a half. When I took them down I had quite of length grown. I had them re-done every week or two weeks at the most and deep conditioned it with Hair Mayonaise by organic root stimulator for 45 min. under the dryer. I also sprayed my hair twice a day with leave in conditoner to keep it moisturized. But make sure the person who does it isnt pulling the hair from the front too tight it will only make you lose hair and in some cases you wont be able to grow it back because of traction alopecia.

it doesn't make your hair grow faster but it is a protective style so the hair doesn't break off as much and it gives it a break from all the heat and styling products we would other wise use to control our hair
