I have hair a little below shoulder length and I wanted to know how to get those wet looking waves without it looking nappy. My hair is relaxed. Also wanted to know is this a low maintence look?

for your waves:

either use a curling iron or hair rollers(these work the best)

if you use an iron rap a 2 inch thick strand of hair around the iron(gently) do this all over hair. for rollers put your hair in rollers when it is wet then blow dry. then apply gel all over for the wet look.

get some setting lotion and braid your hair and let it dry overnight. the next day undo the braid and there you go. the wet wavy look.

OMG im african american too...well actually mixed with asian but my hair is like....like...AFRO ISH lol anyways wut i do is after i get out of the shower..WHILE its wet put gel in it.,so when it dries it'll be lookin how it did when got outa the shower....another hair style i do is i straighen my bangs only and put it to the side and tie the rest of my hair back and out a head band on =]

ya u either have to put your hair in curlers or curl your hair, unless you naturally have curly hair, then use a volumizing curling mouse. I reccomend curls up curl reviving mouse. All u have to do is dispense a small amount of mouse into your palm. Apply to damp hair. Work into and through hair thoroughly. Scrunch hair %26amp; let dry naturally or blow dry with a diffuser.

This is what you can try after you find some good anti-frizz serum, most work ok or use some leave in conditioner. I love infusium 23 (the original formula). Another thing that worked for me when I did the wet look is to use some good ole curl activator. I used the cheap one from the dollar store. It come in a big jar and it's clear. Hair looked great all day.

Wash hair (or just wet it good) add the serum or activator and don't let it air dry. This is where most people go wrong. Get a diffuser from any beauty supply store that can attach to your hand blow dryer.

Put the leave in condition on or Mousse and scrunch the hair into the style you like. Dry the hair with the diffuser attached. This will help the hair stay in place as you dry it. If it look frizzy add a little more Mousse before it is completely dry. Then continue to dry. Make sure the hair is completely dry with the diffuser before you leave the house. This is how your hair will look all day because you just "set" it into that style.

Hint: Always use alot of Mousse if you think you used to much then add a glob more.

If your hair is relaxed straight you would not be able to get it wavy. When you get a relaxer it is a chemical change. Sorry Hun you would have to grow out your relaxer and get texturizers instead. That way you can where it straight or wavy when you would like to.

For a low maintenance hair style wash and set your hair once a week and set it and wrap every night and just comb it down in the morning.
