Suggestions for regrowing african american hair!?

.Recently my hair has broken off severly in the middle. I am trying to do all that I can to help restore growth. I am currently laying off the relaxers and growing my hair natural. Also, I'm

taking prenatal and hair, skin, and nail vitamins. I also read that using virgin olive oil on your roots helps. I know that it takes time to see results, but how long could I expect to see change by doing these things. Also what else can I do or take to help speed up the growth. I'm so desperate and I am open to any suggestions. Please help me.

Suggestions for regrowing african american hair!?

Try drinking a lot of water and exercising. Both will help with keeping your hair healthy as it grows. Try using Wild Growth Hair Oil. It is very good with a combo of all the oils that are best for your hair, like coconut oil and olive oil. Use three times a week. You should see results from the Oil alone in 2 to 3 months. Also, manage your scalp every night for 10 minutes before you go to bed. This will help simulate your scalp and help with hair growth. HTH!!!!

extensions.

Suggestions for regrowing african american hair!?

I had the same problem with my hair. I use the Hair, Skin and Nails vitamins. There are some hair products by Organic Root Stimulator with Olive Oil that work pretty well, I also like the Hair Mayonnaise. I also use the Dr Miracle's products, they are expensive but they worked really well for me. I had my hair cut about 1/2 inch long because of hair damage and since using those products and getting regular trims and deep conditioning, my hair has grown into a short bob that stops at my jawline in 6 months. No joking! I still get relaxers though, but my hair is a lot healthier and thicker.

Suggestions for regrowing african american hair!?

If you want your hair to grow faster than usual you should use natural products like coconut oil or olive oil for example. Slather the products on your scalp for about 30 minutes and wrap a towel round your head and then wash the hair with a shampoo / it will be better if you use a shampoo that contains natural products like aloe, olive, honey or milk/ . Do not forget to use a condtioner at the end. Do this twice a week and you will see the difference 閳?the oil saturate the hair and makes it looks great , beautiful and healthy. Olive oil is ultra moisturising and adds shine to lacklustre hair and most women know how much it helps the hair to look amazingly.

What products to use for African American hair that straightens hair without frizz?

I usually press then flat iron. My hair will be straighten but it still has a frizzy look instead of the silky straighten look. I used to get my hair done at salons and they sprayed stuff in my hair before they flat ironed it (not sure what they use). My hair is natural (no perms) wavy/curly texture. My hair is much longer since I stop going to salons but I don't have the salon look, after I press it. I can't even wear my hair down because it is way too frizzy. Can someone give me some advise on the best products to use when flat ironing your hair leaving you with a silky result? Thanks girls.

if you google it you might get a good answer...or take your question to a hiar salon where you know they can do racial hair...

What products to use for African American hair that straightens hair without frizz?

You could put like some pink lotion on it when you get finished straightening it.

What products to use for African American hair that straightens hair without frizz?

There is a line of products by Avon that is great for that. It's called Advanced Techniques Straight and Sleek. The shampoo and conditioner alone helps reduce frizzing, but there is a particular straightening balm (it's a cream) made by them that works great with or without heat and is loaded with nutrients to maintain your hair's health. If you flat iron your hair very often, that may actually contribute to your hair's frizzy state. Too much heat can begin to damage your hair and cause it to look frizzy as well. Using these products will help your hair to be straighter when pressed, and you can wrap your hair overnight to maintain it.

What products to use for African American hair that straightens hair without frizz?

Have you ever seen the Maxiglide infomercial for controlling curly, frizzy hair. Check it out on http://www.maxiusbeauty.com/productphp?c... scroll down to view instructional video on quicktime. They also offer hair products to reduce frizz. The combination of these two products 'Beyond Straight' and 'The End' fights the frizzies.

Your ends are damage. Need to clip them. Your hair needs more moisture and less heat. Heat type appliance are damaging to our hair, causing hair to become dry, brittle and then it breaks off.

How do keep African American hair moisturized and maximize it's growth potential?

I currently use Aubrey Organic's products and they generally work pretty well in keeping my tresses moisturized and plus the added benefit that they contain all natural ingredients. But a couple of days after I shampoo I find my hair dry, especially on the ends. I oil my hair and scalp with almond seed oil and jojoba oil mixed together on a nightly basis and I clip my ends about every month. I also take flaxseed oil supplements as well as a daily vitamin. I also have a roughly healthy diet which is rich in leafy greens and other veggies and low in fats. The only area I may lag in is my water intake is not as high as it should be. I generally consume about 5 glasses daily rather than the 8-10 as most professionals suggest. Beside increasing my water intake, what else can I do to ensure my hair remains moisturized as well as reaching it's maximum growth potential? Thanks!

How do keep African American hair moisturized and maximize it's growth potential?

African American hair is extremely dry...You sound like you are doing a good job, but you didn't mention other factors such as how you style your hair, what you use to wrap it up at night, and how the air conditions were you live are. Those factors have to be taken into consideration as well.

Also, you mention that you oil your hair and scalp, but do you do the same to the ends of your hair? As you know, that part is the first to dry out.

If you wrap your hair at night and tie it up with a silk scarf, that should suffice, in addition to what you currently do.

How do keep African American hair moisturized and maximize it's growth potential?

After shampooing, try a cholesterol treatment once a week as an alternative to conditioning. If you do condition, try Pantene conditioner for ethnic hair...works great and doesn't make hair dry out.

How do keep African American hair moisturized and maximize it's growth potential?

Not AA but i would suggest a good conditioning treatment

How do keep African American hair moisturized and maximize it's growth potential?

By adding a hair dressing to your hair and scalp and messaging your scalp. I use Doo Gro Thickening Lotion three times a week.It works very well. I have noticed a great deal of hair growth after I use that product.

How to best care for African American hair.?

I am a white woman who has a bi racial little girl. I keep her hair braided most of the time and I use the Pink lotion to grease her head. The question I have is that I see so many little black girls with braids and their hair is not flying away all over the place. My little girls hair will lie flat for a little while but then starts to fly away if you know what I mean. How do I get her hair to lie flat? Her hair is natural, it has never been treated with chemicals or perms. It is very long almost half way down her back but its very thin espcially around her hair line. Can anyone out there give me some tips on how to care for her hair better and stop the fly aways, without getting perms or other chemicals in her hair? Thank you!

How to best care for African American hair.?

I would suggest using a light grease instead of pink lotion, that tends to dry my hair out. You also have to keep in mind everyone has a different hair texture and her being bi-racial, it won't be the same texture as others. If it is breaking off around the hair line, I would suggest going to a beautician to get that checked out, even though she is a little girl, she still needs healthy hair. The beautician will be able to tell you how to treat her hair and restore the hair around the hairline.

How to best care for African American hair.?

dont use pink lotion.. it ruins the hair..im 15. and have been perming my hair for a while.. i dont have bi-racial hair.. but my hair hasnt been damaged because of getting perms.. but its your decision.. and try not putting a Ounce of grease in her hair.. try a olive oil spray

How to best care for African American hair.?

I'm biracial also (black %26amp; asian). Yes, don't put chemicals in her hair.

The reason why she has fly away is because her hair texture is different from black people's. When I get my hair braided, it'll only last for about three days. Something to help hold it down is a little bit of grease.

I personally wear my hair curly (my hair is probably the same legnth, at my bra strap). I used to use pink lotion, and it helped, but I found using "white people" products work better for me. I use Sunsilk Frizz Ease 24/7 creme (green bottle) and some sort of curl defining mousse (I like Tresseme Curl Care the best, but I'm currently using Garnier Curl Construct Mousse and it works fine too). I always style my hair when wet %26amp; I never comb/brush it out; I just finger comb.

If you were wondering for shampoo's and conditioners, I used to use Motions (for black people), but I find that Garnier Fructis works better. I use the Curl %26amp; Shine shampoo, conditioner, and leave in conditioner.

Also, please don't think I'm racist (obviously I'm not), but most people think just because you have some black in you, its better to use those type of products, but since I don't have the same texture, I find that this isn't true.

Anyway, I hope this helps!

What's the best hair care products for african american hair?

Well i already know the basics about hair care, but what's the best hair care line for black hair-or just hair period, cause i want my hair to grow but eventhough i follow the rules of hair treatment, my hair still has breakage and split ends, and gets dry really easily...i trim, deep condition, basically no heat, etc. it has to be the product im using.

What's the best hair care products for african american hair?

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

I want to relax my hair so that it can be straight, but I want to know if the ones in the stores that sell for black people also work for asians.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

It seems that the relaxer would be too strong. I am part asian, being that I was told that it would damage my hair and that the salon people who did put it in my hair at one time was afraid that my hair would fall out. I'm thinking it may be a little too strong if you used it.. There may be other products out there that may give you the straight effect I'm sure of it. It's just risky if you used those type of relaxers on your own.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

It would depend on the type of hair you have.

If you have fine hair like the Orientals, I think, it won't work for you.

If you have thick hair, then maybe yes.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

I don't think so. I know that there are hair products made especially for both types of hair because if you use the wrong type of product it will fry the hair. (I have a friend from Japan and she told me that she had color done and it fried her hair because it was more for caucasian hair - and she would never make that mistake again.) I would definitely ask a GOOD hair dresser; either that or call the customer care phone number on a hair product made specifically for Asian hair and ask them.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

IM HISPANIC BUT I HAVE AFRICAN BLOOD IN ME. so im a little worried that ,that particular relaxer might be too strong.GO FOR MAYBE A japanese RELAXER.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

only if your hair is the same texture as African American hair. but i have not seen any Asian women with that hair texture, so if i were you i would be careful.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

Your hair texture is completely different so I'de say no.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

It might, but you probably don't have the right texture of hair, so you'd lose lots in the process. If you want to get it straightened, go to a professional.

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

You should try going to a Caucasion hair salon and ask about their relaxers. African American relaxers are pretty strong and I'm thinking you have very fine hair, so that want be a good idea to use that type of perm on your hair. Good Luck!

Do African American hair relaxers work for Asians?

i doubt it very seriously

Stright, Silky African American Hair?

How do I get silky looking hair without getting a perm or anything that will damage my hair.

Stright, Silky African American Hair?

If you haven't had a relaxer in a while or (virgin hair) then I would reccomend a shampoo and deep conditioner (Creme of Nature is a good one specialted for african american hair ) When you deep condition make sure to leave it in for 20mins then rinse in warm to cold water (seals the cuticle- making the hair manageable) Then use a pressing oil just make sure its a creme not greasy -grease is the worst thing created it clogs pores and stunts hair growth. Once you have finished applying the oil pressing creme to your hair, section off 1'-3/4 of hair and use a flat iron "Conair has several good flatirons also cost friendly" and press your hair starting from the root of the hair moving slowly to end of the hair....Repeat.. Your finished results should be straight silky hair!!

Stright, Silky African American Hair?

um for me i stopped using grease and confroming to straight hair.i would start wearing my hair curly and it grows silky guranteee! neways use a shampoo and condiotioner specifically for dry/damaged hair and take vitamin e pills. if you want a moisturizer then i suggest a leave in conditioner like garnier fructis! i know this sounds weird but sometimes white hair products are the best because why do they have siliky hair and we dont!

Stright, Silky African American Hair?

you could try a hot comb or flat iron .

Stright, Silky African American Hair?

a flat iron and some pink glosser for shine, its not greasy or oily.

Stright, Silky African American Hair?

there are some egyptians salons that are around that take care of your hair that dont use any chemical or unnecessary products in your hair that will cause it to break.

For African-American hair?

How often should I use a leave in conditioner, I don't want to use it so much that it dampens my hair. Would it be okay to use it daily?

For African-American hair?

You can use it every time you wash. It is good for helping curly hair because it can help keep down the frizz. Or I use it on people with very damaged hair for extra protection. It would have to be very heavy conditioner for it to weigh down your hair. Typically leave in is not that heavy.

For African-American hair?

the more the better. and u should also deep condition it weekly

For African-American hair?

just get ur head SHAVED then u wont have2 worry bout it

For African-American hair?

no way i say only use it after you perm your hair it should remain soft for a month after that use it only whenever you wash your hair

For African-American hair?

Try to just use it every time you wash your hair. Which sometimes should be once or twice a week.

For African-American hair?

They have different types for different types of have, i would conult ur barber or stylist to find out which products work best for ur hair type, they are supposed to be "the pros".

Good luck!!

For African-American hair?

I wash my hair every saturday. But I got my hair relaxed.

For African-American hair?

depending on the type of leave-in conditioner it is, u can use it daily, but i recommend only using it after u wash your hair. like twice or once a week, cuz it will start to leave a build-up and your hair won't b shiny.

For African-American hair?

I would say to use a leave in conditioner maybe every other day at the most.

Really it's recommended once a week when you wash your hair.

:-/

For African-American hair?

Dont worry, your hair wont dampen from using the conditioner. Use it everytime after you shampoo and leave in for about 5mins then rinse. If your hair is over dry and damaged you should get a hot oil treatment or even try hair mayonaise.

For African-American hair?

use it to every day. dampen your hair enough to be able to work it in.

Setting lotions are used before rolling hair to create looser, softer curl .

Wrapping lotion is a setting lotion made for wrapping the hair against the scalp for a smooth, sleek look.

Styling lotions and mousses provide medium (firm) hold to create volume and shape .

Spray setting lotions directly on wet hair .

Apply styling lotions and mousses with hands and work through hair.

Wearing your african American hair?

Question about African American hair without a relaxer? No chemicals?

I wanted to get a sew in. What styles and if you have pictures that would be great. Being that I have natural I can't get straight hair or can I? I do not want my hair to show at all, is that possible?

Question about African American hair without a relaxer? No chemicals?

Yes, you can get straight hair. The key is to not have your natural hair show. Having a style with bangs is your best bet.

Question about African American hair without a relaxer? No chemicals?

Yes, that is possible, but it won't be very versatile at all. Either you have to wear it up, or all down. You can get straight hair, and you can have all of it covered. Be sure to use human hair, which is more expensive but looks more real and lasts longer.

Question about African American hair without a relaxer? No chemicals?

There are so many different ways with extentions. You could it put on without showing your hair at all, (that is very expensive) or you could just use the front of your hair. You could still use straight hair if your hair isn't straight they, will probably flat iron your hair so it will look more like the hair.

Question about African American hair without a relaxer? No chemicals?

i have natural hair too...when i put my extensions in i didn't have none of my hair showing but i also got curly tracks put in; people thought it was my hair (same length %26amp; texture just different color)...you can get straight hair put in if you want

For african american hair?

i don't want to use relaxers anymore. what r good alternatives to relaxers for straightening hair, besides flat ironing? what is and how do i do a wet set?

For african american hair?

If you still want straight hair you can use a straightening comb or just get a blow dry and curl to acheive the wet set look because if your hair is not straight your wet set will big a big no-no!!!!

For african american hair?

You could get a weave - it lasts a long time and is not so damaging to the hair. A wet set is also another good alternative. A wet set just means putting rollers in your hair. Put the rollers in and let your hair air dry.

For african american hair?

come to britain and get it done .. we;re so great here

Has African American hair, but......?

Does anyone know how to get those spanish curls (not being racist!)

I try to get them, but it's really hard! Like for example, this is what I've tried to far:

1. Wetting my hair, putting frizz-ease on it, leaving it like that.

2. Wetting, putting lotion on it, going under dryer.

3. Wetting it, twist it into little buns, waiting till it dries, loosing out buns.

And that's all. Tried all of those, but all what it came out to be is puffy, or straight....

Here's a picture with an example:

Has African American hair, but......?

What do you mean by african american hair? Like tight tight curls that most have? Or curly/wavy hair? If you have tight curls, straghten your hair, then put a curling iron on it. I'd say your best bet is go to a salon, and tell them what you want. You can watch and see exactly what they do.

Or hey, get a good weave

You should try Carol's Daughter products for your hair ,they are really good for African American hair because they contain most of those ingrediants you listed and more.many celebrities like Jada Pinkett Smith use Carol's Daughter products because most of the ingrediants are organic. They are great! I use them too.To find out more info visit their website. You could also consider trying Keracare products and Nexxus Humectrees conditioner(not just for white girls and you can find nexxus products at your local drugstore).

I have african american hair and I am going natural do I have to cut it off first.?

I always hear women talking about the great chop off. My hair isn't that is all that long and the relaxer is just about grown out. I just really hate cutting my hair.

I have african american hair and I am going natural do I have to cut it off first.?

I am an African American woman. I went natural a year ago and yes, I did the big chop off the hair. I only had 2 inches off natural hair after it was cut. The reason for the cut is because when you go natural, it breaks off the relaxed hair after a while because its stronger. But I will say this, people think that you don't have to do anything with natural hair and that is soo wrong! So if you are not ready for the big change I definitely don't recommend it. My hair now is to my neck so I am very happy with the results. I am a stylist, so I know how to take care of it. If you don't, I recommend going to someone would expertise is natural hair and see how you should maintain your new style.

I have african american hair and I am going natural do I have to cut it off first.?

The only way you would have to cut your hair like that is if its severly damaged then you would want to get all the dead ends off otherwise just take about an inch off every 6 weeks.

African American Braiding hair question????

I love to wear my hair in micro braids. I have grown my hair out over the years and it is now shoulder length. My braider says my hair is too long for human hair extensions and that I should use synthetic hair. I don't really like to use synthetic hair. I like to be able to play around with styles and you really can't do that with synthetic hair. I have gone to every african american beauty supply store in my town and no one has hair longer than 24 inches. Does anyone know of a reputable website that sells longer lengths of human braiding hair?

African American Braiding hair question????

First off, you can still get your hair braided with human hair even though your very long, you can actually get your own hair braided in micro braids I have done that several times, but some people do prefer weave. I have a few websites that have 24 inche weave that may be able to help. I hope that you find what you are looking for. Good luck, oh I have to tell you though you may be paying alot more than you usually do.

African American Braiding hair question????

I'm sorry but I've never heard or gotten longer than 24' inches so, well maybe you should ask your braider if they can sew two extensions together, but I've never heard of such thing. Wear your natural hair.

African American Braiding hair question????

dont go for extensions nor a weave

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

almost 5 years ago my mother put a chemical relaxer in my hair and completely ruined the long hair I had, but the same thing happened to my cousin , 2 years ago my cousin came to visit me and her hair was shorter than mine now I recently contacted her on myspace to find out her hair is basicly longer than mine. is it me? am I doing something wrong? what can I do to grow my hair out? pls help.

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

try dove soap and its good for growing your hair and also ojon restorative oil...

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

Apply Curd and take steam...

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

avoid chemicals relaxer kills hair go natural braid ur hair 2 helpit grow otherwise u must wait 4 it 2 grow on its own n dat will take a while.beleve me im african myself so our hair takes time 2 grow.

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

I'm in the same boat as you. Just keep your hair condition and braided but make sure the braids aren't to tight. That will break you hair off. Just remember to use a deep condition at least twice week.

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

Hi, I went to beauty school for a bit...you can maybe use some conditioning treatments...i know they sell things like that for african american hair, especially if you go to a beauty supply store...wal-mart has them too i beleive. I cant remember the brands off hand...have you thought about extensions til the hair grows out?

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

Try Aussie 3 minute miracle. DROWN your hair in it and leave on for about 10 minutes, then rinse. Only rinse for about 30 seconds. (you can 'leave in' any conditioner). Repeat this once a week.

Also, take a multi-vitamin. In a few weeks you should start to see results. Good luck!

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

She probably has extensions in her hair to make it look longer than it really is.

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

get a good boars bristle brush %26amp; brush your hair to the scalp every night..%26amp; i dont mean scratch ya scalp all up...it just needs blood circulation to help get that hair growing. i have went bald 3 times in my life %26amp; it grows back pretty fast...but now that im a lil older its a lil slower...but its growing with good care....dont wash you hair too much...try washing it once every two weeks instead...i know some people will freak out over that but it helps the natural oils from your scalp to get to your hair beyond the roots...also...if ya have fine hair...%26amp; ya want bone straight hair...go for Caucasian hair relaxers or relaxers made for fine hair...in the mean time..brush every night...wash a little less...%26amp; try not to do anything to your hair all the time...i walk around my house with a mess on my head so i wont damage it...lol ! the only time i do it...is if im leaving the house !

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

This is going to sound ridiculous, but pre-natal vitamins can really help your hair grown. Try taking vitamins that have vitamin B, C, and E. Beta-Carotene is good too. My hair grows much better when I am on some type of vitamin or another.

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

Make sure you keep your ends trimmed. Use a good moisturizing and fortifying shampoo. Get a reconstructor conditioner like 5-1 by Avlon and a regular conditioner Humecto (Keracare) Mizani has good conditioners. If you curl your hair everyday STOP!! Technically the only time you are supposed to curl your hair is when it has just been shampooed. Once you start curling it with a build up of products on your hair that's when it starts breaking.

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

At walmart/dollar store (i dont know if its any other place) but theres this type of oil in the african american section for hair

that makes your hair more oily and brings back life. It also works for white people (im white %26amp; it works for me fine).

Healing broken, burned, damaged African American hair?

No one told you relaxers damage hair??? Because of relaxers you must take VERRRRY good care of your hair if you want it to grow. If you don't, your hair will grow, but BREAK off so it looks like it's staying the same forever.

Okay, here is my advice, I know a lot about hair care so this might sound crazy but you can either take my advice or not grow your hair.

First of all, keep your hair moisturized. This is as simple as wetting it in the shower, or wetting your hands and running them through your hair. DO NOT buy any moisturizer that has MINERAL OIL or PETROLATUM!

2)use a wide tooth comb(SPARINGLY!!!) to avoid hairs breaking.

3)Wash your hair AT LEAST!!!!! once a week with shampoo. I wash mine with JUST conditioner sometimes too.

4)after shampooing, DEEP CONDITION by putting condish on your hair and putting a plastic cap over it and leaving it on for 15-30 minutes

5)massage your scalp daily

6)do not put any oils or "grease" on your scalp. Same goes with hair.

Straightening natural african american hair?

Will I still be able to wear my afro after i start straightening my hair? will it change the texture of my hair?

Straightening natural african american hair?

if you straighten it with a hot comb or a straightner yes most of the time people sweat it out but if you wash your hair you'll get the same texture back

Straightening natural african american hair?

Do you mean straightening with a hot comb or a texturizer or what? It really depends. Right now I am in the process of going natural and I have read that a hot comb or even using too much heat to create a blow out style can change the texture. You should also be careful about coloring as well. BlackHairMedia.com and Nappturality.com are good sources to go to.

Need pprofessional help for african american hair problems?

My hair was once long and thick but isn't anymore the only time i get good results is while my hair is cut but i would like to have more options with my natural hair which is brittle breaks easiliy and has one spot that willl not grow. Should i shave my hair and grow back natuarally without chemical processing or is there swome hair techniques htat i should suggest to my stylist?

My suggestion sister is if in fact u have natural style find a natural hair stylist in your area... Use all natural products.. P1000 that is a product that will natually take all the chemicals out your hair and stiop it from breaking... If ur hair is damage u may have to cut it in fact if it is brittle it will ook better after you cut it... Our hair holds energy so take care of it u will feel and see a diffrence.. If your in the Detroit area a good place to visit is Happy to Be Nappy natual hair salon that will take good care of u....Peace sister

Knowledge of African American Hair : Should I get yaky or silky weave hair ?

will someone please explain the difference about these two types of human hair

Knowledge of African American Hair : Should I get yaky or silky weave hair ?

It depends on what kind of braids your getting silky works for micros, picies, and braids that hang down. The Yaky works for braids to the back and in a pony tail.

Knowledge of African American Hair : Should I get yaky or silky weave hair ?

get yaky perm..Silky is a silkier texture..ex. asain hair..not as silky but close to it..and if your hair is coarse, its not going to look nice because it's going to be coarse on the top and then really straight and silky on the bottom...yaky perm, is straight and it has more texture. like you have a relaxer in..so that works best for hair that is relaxed.

Knowledge of African American Hair : Should I get yaky or silky weave hair ?

Yaky is the best. Silky tends to be too straight in most cases

Knowledge of African American Hair : Should I get yaky or silky weave hair ?

depends on your hair texture. do you wear a relaxer, etc.

I used to prefer yaky. I think it looks more natural.

Knowledge of African American Hair : Should I get yaky or silky weave hair ?

yaky is the best because it more natural looking and feeling....silky looks to fake and its get tangled more easily.

I have african american hair and i have used a texterizer too many times, how do i strip my hair of t

without cutting my hair off

I have african american hair and i have used a texterizer too many times, how do i strip my hair of the chemica

You CANNOT "strip" your hair of chemicals. In fact, by stripping it you're just adding more chemicals to it. Growing it out and cutting off the processed part is the ONLY way to rid your hair of the chemicals that are on it.

I have african american hair and i have used a texterizer too many times, how do i strip my hair of the chemica

I agree with the above answer, there is no other way besides cutting off the processed hair. Sorry hun :/

I have african american hair and i have used a texterizer too many times, how do i strip my hair of the chemica

"without cutting it off". sorry but you've got to cut it.

I have african american hair and i have used a texterizer too many times, how do i strip my hair of the chemica

mix 1 cup baking soda with 2 cups water. mix and pour through hair. comb through until tangles are gone. then rinse with very warm water. before you turn the water off, put very cold water through your hair.

the heat will open your pores and get the chemicals out from the root. the cold will shut your pores and keep the oil from making your hair greasy.

I have african american hair and i have used a texterizer too many times, how do i strip my hair of the chemica

You cannot strip away the relaxer to return your hair back to it's natural state. The relaxer breaks down the protein bonds in your hair. IT hasn't deposited anything that can be removed...the relaxer has already done the stripping. If you have relaxed or texturized your hair too straight, you cannot reverse it. I would suggest either cutting the hair or do gradual trims if you don't want to lose a lot of length at one time.

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

Can I perm my hair that soon? It gets so nappy, and hard to maintain, so I get frustrated. What can i do to make the perm last longer. I'm on a budget and can't always go to the salon. I have short hair and i'm trying to grow it out long.

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

my hair is the same way. typically i have found that a few things work during that time:

a wig-depends on how comfortable you feel with this option. not everyone likes them

get your hair braided-not in small braids but normal size so that your hair can rest

wear a pony tail-the bigger the better lol as the new growth will hide under it.

wear a bun-prices range from $3-50 and you can find any style that you want

get rods and curl your hair. i spray my hair with hawaiian silky dry look moisturizer, let it dry and then curl my hair. the style will last for weeks and you shouldnt have to comb it.

During this time I always use my favorite spray oil- i love Kemi Oyl, African Pride and Soft %26amp; Beautiful Botanticals to keep my scalp hydrated using only my fingers.

hopefully one of these will appeal to you but be careful with the braids-for some people their hair is not strong enough to handle it and the breakage can be fierce if you dont keep your hair moisturized.

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

Dont retouch it yet its too soon and its going to weaken your hair. Your over processing it. Get a good trim thats the key to a HEALTHY lookn head of hair. dont be one of those trying to grow it people but god wisps of weak hair. You might just be better of wearing a more natural style and growing out ur perm.

I have African American hair and it seems to have so much new growth in the 3rd week.?

I would use another brand of relaxer. It sounds like your hair is underprocessed. And this time, try using a lye relaxer instead of a no-lye relaxer. My hair seems to revert faster when I use no-lye.

How does african american hair become supper straight when they are actually born with frizzier hair

PERM AND BEYONCE WEARS WEAVE HAIR EXTENSION YOU DIM WITT

How does african american hair become supper straight when they are actually born with frizzier hair?

i dont think you can. othere than straightening it, because they have very tight curls naturally, so im not sure

How does african american hair become supper straight when they are actually born with frizzier hair?

It's called a perm, straightner or relaxer... it's chemicals.

How does african american hair become supper straight when they are actually born with frizzier hair?

their hair is frizzy but some of the use greese or go and get a perm which for african americans means getting it straightened

How does african american hair become supper straight when they are actually born with frizzier hair?

Their hair is curlier than ours, and more wiry in texture, so where we use a permanent to curl ours, they use the same thing to straighten theirs. It's called a relaxer for their marketing purposes, but it's basically the same ingredients/chemicals as our permanent.

How does african american hair become supper straight when they are actually born with frizzier hair?

I seen Beyonce baby picture and here hair wasn't that frizzy it was a had a little wave to get and with a perm and with that spanish and indian blood it wasn't hard for her to get it straight

But with my son is mix his hair is so hard to straight because of the texture ,but for some reason I can straight my hair being black as I am lol go figure ,and if I have a mix daughter I don't think her hair will straighty like mines for some reason

How to make African American hair grow!?

Okay, it's obvious why I can't grow out my hair past my shoulders. I can't seem to part with my beloved straightener. It's completely dried out my hair. Anyway, is there a system out there that I can use that will wane me away from the straightener and give my hair a chance to grow back out? I've tried only using it once a week, but uh...I can't even wear my hair the way I want to... which is down. Most beauticians say it's not good to always wear ponytails, is there an option that I'm missing?

Vitamins for hair growth

http://www.askaquery.com/Answers/qn1680....

How to make African American hair grow!?

Ive been trying to grow out my hair for years and its not working. but im thinking of trying something new i read about it in a magazine so it should work. First you should get your ends reguarly trimed, to get rid of dead, spilt ends so your hair can grow without breaking off. Then you should stop using thin elastics, it puts to much pressure on invidual hairs causing breakage, use wide cotton elastics. Then if you use alot of heat styling such as a hot comb, flat iron or blow dryer that is also causing damage to your leading to hair breakage. Before you use a heat styling product spray hair with a heat protectant spray to prevent damage. If you color your hair wait 4-6 weeks between colorings and use a kit with gloss to prevent breakage. If your overly stressed out or have to much anxiety it leads to hair loss so if your stressed i recommend doing a relaxing activity such as yoga or taking a bubble bath. You should also try a daily multivitamin to ensure your hair has all the nutrients it needs to grow. Also you should keep it healthy by deep conditioning it once a with a deep conditioner with vitamins and minerals. Shampoo and Condition your hair regurally. I know us black women cant wash our hair everyday so try doing it every 2 or 3 weeks, thats what helps me. Use a conditioner with silicones to keep hair soft such as dove intense moisture conditioner. Finally, since your hair is mostly made up of proteins you should eat 2 servings of protein daily to grow out your hair. I hope this helps! Good Luck!

How to make African American hair grow!?

Okay take it from me. Don't put perms in your hair for like 2 or 3 months. Keep it hanging at all times(no ponytails). Take vitamins everyday. Do not blow dry nor flat iron your hair. Let your hair always air dry. While it's air drying(constantly grease your hair and wet it). Also brush it. Use Do Gro grease and the moisturizer in a medium size bottle(twice a day). Get your hair trimmed every 2 weeks. Let your hair all over when you go to bed(do not tie up). Keep away from hair dyes and rinses(chemicals also). My hair grew drastically after all these things. I continue to use. I get complements on how well my hair grew. After 2 months you will have at least 2 or 3 inches of new growth and then you can perm it.

How to make African American hair grow!?

ive been trying to grow my hair out also. what i do is i go to my beautician every week and she does my hair and it grows really fast! i get perms, but if you dont that doesnt mean that u have to start gettin them. just get it washed and done regularly, dont wear ponytails as much because it breaks off your hair. when you swim wet your hair first because it stops your hair from breaking off in the pool and afterwards. dont curl, flat iron, etc. so much. thats about all the advice i can give. keep it hydrated!!!

How to make African American hair grow!?

GIRL i had the same problem with my hair it just would NOT grow I go the salon every month. You can get a perm and ask them to put in a treatment, leave the perm in for 2 weeks, after to weeks get a wash, and after that week get another wash. Whenur hair gets bushy again then that will let you know that you cant stay lookin a hot mess time for a perm girl.Just follow the same procedure when your gets bushy. or if u want a cream for ur hair click here http://www.doogro.com/

How to make African American hair grow!?

gURL i AM goint to tell u the trick. You want ever have to use ur straighter AGAIN SERIOUSLY!!!!!!!!!

**Okay if you want to wear ur hair down do this***

* Wash your hair, then sqeeze out the excess water, run the towel over it but dont dry your hair it needs to be still wet for this to work right. okay then you spray setting lotion on it and wrap you hair while its wet and has setting lotion on it. Tie it up in a wrap scarf, which u can buy at a local beauty supply store and let it dry. You may want to do this at night so when u wake up in the morning it will be dry. Then u just comb out your wrapped hair and I guarantee it will look as if you had used the straightener. this can last at least a week or two. but at night you'll have to wrap your hair before you go to bed. You dont have to wash it again or spray setting lotion. just wrap it.

*** I learned this about three years ago and my hair has even grown from being wrapped at night. Wrapping it helps it to grow.. No lie my hair has grown at least 5 inches..

** This is perfect for our hair*(*

How to make African American hair grow!?

Use vitamins

detoxify with plenty water

braid it

if your genes have long hair in then..lol..

they should grow after this.

How to make African American hair grow!?

Don't over do it, meaning don't fry, dye, and over stress your hair with relaxers, and all these crazy hair styles. Use Jojoba oil from a natural , or health food store. If you do relax your hair, don't do it all the time, use a hot comb in between relaxers. Use rollers istead of curling irons all the time. Wash reagulary, and use less products.

How to make African American hair grow!?

All of the prior suggestions are good ones. Also, look for products that moisturize and condition the hair (they should contain glycerin, aloe vera, etc). The best suggestion I've gotten, however, was to wear a drawstring ponytail. Your hair is protected from the elements and from styling (just don't pull your hair back too tightly). I've been wearing one for about 18 months now and my hair is almost halfway down my back. All the best.

How to achieve wavy hair (for African American hair)?

I am transitioning (meaning I am slowly getting rid of my permed ends, and the rest of my hair is natural.)

I have a good hair texture, but I don't know what products I can use to achieve the "waves" in the front like this:

http://public.fotki.com/meganjerai/the_b...

I have used hair mayonnaise and it works, but i was hoping there were other products because i have to use a lot of the hair mayonnaise to achieve that effect and it is too thick to wash out.

How to achieve wavy hair (for African American hair)?

I had the same prob and wat I used was mousse and waved it while I put the mousse in then use a bunch of sheen to keep it still!!

It worked for me =D

WELL IF YOUR HAIR WAVES UP WHEN WET...THEN USE LEAVE IN CONDITIONER AND MOOSE! I RECOMMEND GARNIER FRUCTIS

Best hair straightner for african american hair?

I have medium length curly hair, and it gets dry easily, im lookin for a straightner that is skinny, affordable, and if possible one that can also curl your hair....

If you know of any please tell me....THX!!!

I like this flat iron by Hot Tools. It's a 3/4in. flat iron with rounded plates so that you can get your edges really good. I've seen them in Trade Secret. I know it's somewhere between 40-50 dollars. I hope this helps!

Need education on African-American hair: hot comb or flat iron?

I work in a residence for adults with intellectual disabilities. Newest is our one and only black resident, a young woman capable of doing her own hair with some support. She's kind of an orphan and we don't even have any black staff right now. Overdue for some hair care ASAP, limited resources, need to keep the routine simple and result in a young modern look. She has previous experience with hot comb, but aren't they kind of old fashion compared to a flat iron? Harder on hair and requires oil that weighs hair down risking that '60's Shirelles kind of look? What do you recommend? Thanks (for not saying hire some black people, cracker.)

Need education on African-American hair: hot comb or flat iron?

well honestly if you don't have years and years of experience w/ a hot comb i say stick with a flat iron. it straightens just as well. if you don't really and i mean really know what your doing with a hot comb you could burn her hair off. stick w/ the flat iron, just take smaller sections of hair (this is assuming her hair is very thick and/or course) don't use grease, use oil like hot sixx oil, or carrott oil, these can be found at wal-mart or target in the ethnic hair care section. also use creme of nature shampoo and conditioner low cost and very good on african american hair and can be found at the same stores.

Need education on African-American hair: hot comb or flat iron?

My hair is natural, and I use the hot comb-the electric plug in one. It isn't old fashioned at all (i'm 22) it just depends on who is doing it as to what the outcome is! You don't need to perm her hair - that can be just as damaging as heat if you don't know what you are doing! Report It

Need education on African-American hair: hot comb or flat iron?

I have been in the beauty industry for over 8 years. I hope this helps someone!

After going through hundreds of dollars and 2 Farouk Chi irons, I had given up!

Let me start by telling you that Sally's owns the large group of beauty stores that sells the high end products that upscale salons purchase their retail from. This is a FACT!

Tired of putting out so much money for the CHI, I called Sally's and asked them for advice on something that is similar to the Chi, but not as expensive.

They reccommended the Generic Chi. I went in and purchase it, and they told me that I was not COMPLETELY satisfied I could return it for a FULL refund.

I took it home and couldn't believe how well it worked! It's just as good, if not better and it was HALF THE PRICE!

This is coming from a person who has owned 2 Chi's (both of which broke after the 1 year warranty) and whom also has extreamly curly hair (spirals)! I would definatly say that it was a GREAT purchase!

Need education on African-American hair: hot comb or flat iron?

well you can use that hot comb the lastest one that pulgs into the wall but its better if you give her a relaxer first to make it extra straight? A flat iron is cool too but make sure its not an cheap one and has the gold plats but the work just the same.

Need education on African-American hair: hot comb or flat iron?

She needs a perm !!! Fabulaxer works well. Many professionals use it. You can get it @ Sallys Beauty Supply or any local beauty supply in your area.

Good hair relaxer for african american hair?

I use dark and lovely....it works real good for my hair. And when I get ready to blow dry my hair I add Pink Morturizer Lotion to my hair first then blow dry using a vent brush. It not only get it straight but my hair has body and shine without looking dried out.

Good hair relaxer for african american hair?

I have really really thick hair and a lot of it, so i use African Pride. I love the conditioner that comes in the kit, and my hairdresser actually told me to use a round brush to straighten my hair. I know everybody thinks that's a "White girl" method but it works so well cause it softens my hair and makes it straight but with some body. Good luck

If you choose to use a adult relaxer go with Gentle Treatment.

Perms for african American hair?

About 3 weeks ago my hair was lookin fresh ta death lol

ightt

i got a hair relaxer in and then i blow dryed it and straightened it.

then 2 weeks after that i washed it

then i blowed dryed it and then i striaghtened it again to

but this time my hair was alittle bit thicker and kinda sticked out alittle bit

so does that mean i should get another perm

but anyway. my question is should i get a perm every month? is that how it go for us grls?or no?

Perms for african American hair?

on average hair dosent grow that fast to get a nother relaxer after 4 weeks. no matter how nappy your roots may seem. it sounds like you might have underprocessed you roots. perming every month is WAY too often. 3 months between relaxers was my minimum to prevent relaxer overlapping. and you can stil have "fresh to death" hair with out relaxing your hair so often. try using rollers or getting a wash and set at a Dominican salon. with other techniques it is possible to go months with out getting a relaxer and in the end your hair will be healthier and break less.

Perms for african American hair?

yeah. my cousins get a perm every 6 weeks and thy have hair like yours. and in most cases it is like that for black girls because their hair is courser.

Perms for african American hair?

most ppl who get their hair permed often have short hair. i get my hair permed every 4-6 months and my hair is supa long

Perms for african American hair?

read this:

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

Perms for african American hair?

you're supposed to wash your hair once a week

and you perm it every six weeks

Perms for african American hair?

What kind of perm do you use ?

I use Creme of Nature... I love there products... hair color, relaxers %26amp; there shampoos %26amp; conditioners....

You should follow the directions .... touch up every 4- 6 weeks if you prefer

Perms for african American hair?

No, don't do it. Your hair is naturally really dry and frizzy.. so geting a perm will only make it worse. Just stick with straightening it.. oh and try to use some hairspray to hold it in place if it sticks out..hair gel maybe. i recommend adding some"weight" and oil to your hair, to weigh it down. It will make your hair easier to manage. Try using this thing called "coconut oil" that you can get at any supermarket. You just use it like a conditioner and it makes your hair so soft and shiny! It's also 100% organic, so that's why I love it!

Perms for african American hair?

i don't know about you but i get a perm every 8 weeks.

6-8 weeks is good.

But if I were you, I would let your hair go back to natural and hotcomb it.

Perms for african American hair?

Lol, the same thing just happened to me! I decided I'm going to invest in a good (and unfortunately expensive) flat iron. I'm getting a MINI TOURMALINE CERAMIC one so I can relax (perm)less. When my new growth comes back, I'll simply flat iron it so I won't have two different textures in my hair. NO you should NOT get a relaxer every month. That is HORRIBLE for your hair. Get it ONLY when your curly hair comes back. Or do it every 2 months.

The straightness/ bounciness had nothing to do with the relaxer. It had to do with the way the stylist did your hair. I recommend rollersetting to get the bouncy/silkyness back:

if you have hair that goes past your armpits, it will probably take a while! There's a great tutorial here: http://healthytextures.typepad.com/my_jo...

MY instructions:

1)shampoo w/ Creme of Nature RINSE

2)Deep condition under hooded dryer with Organic Root Stimulator Replenishing pak or Nexuss Humectress RINSE

3)put hair in magnetic rollers

4) sit under hooded dryer until hair is COMPLETELY dry

5) you can do a saran wrap treatment if you like (instructions are on above link, search the site under "tutorials")

Also b4 flat ironing, make sure you apply Chi Silk Infusion.

Hair extensions for relaxed african american hair?

Will it be expensive? How much on average will it cost? Im not looking for the expensive celebrity kinds that r like 3000 dollars but i wanna get it done by my moms hair dresser who isnt that expensive.

but im wondering how much will it be? Do u know any sites that have beofre and after pics of hair extensions on black ppl or any race???

Hair extensions for relaxed african american hair?

Go To www.margaretsbraidsandweaves.com or Kinksinc.com the beauty shop I go to charges $10 per track and 80 for sew-ins but I know africans that do good weaves for 50

Hair extensions for relaxed african american hair?

i know black girls love weaves and extensions... they look great too.

just go to a beauty store... in black neiborhoods, there are all kinds of beauty stores for black girls...

ask some colored chicks...

if you go to one of these shops.. the extensions are very cheap..

like 10 dollar range has alot of options.

im not sure how much to get them put in, but i know that alot of girls know how.

if you can find one of these stores (shouldnt be hard) the people there should be able to help you alot.

if you go to a place where the people learn to do hair and other beauty things... they do work cheap there cuz they like to get extra practice...

you might wanna ask people where some shops are and look around and talk to people about your options...

also, you might wanna find some pictures of some girls from magazines or wherever to get ideas for what you want...

i seen a style i liked on tv and i just had to get it.

go to some hair places and ask the girls in there... you might wanna shop around cuz those places are everywhere.

Hair extensions for relaxed african american hair?

Ask your Mom's hairdresser! have her show you before and after pics of her work.

Do you want extensions for braids or do you want a weave?

If you want a weave, spend the money. Cheap weaves are easy to spot and they look gross.

How often should I be washing my hair? I wash my hair once a week, but by the 5th or so day the hair starts to itch (I have scalp problems) and it starts to smell bad. I would wash it more often, but it takes too long to roller-set it all over again. Also what can I use to stop my scalp from getting so itchy? I'm not sure if it's psoriasis or bad dandruff, but I've tried every shampoo and nothing works. I'm pretty sure I just need to moisturize it, but I don't know with what!

Maintaining relaxed African American hair?

You should continue to wash your hair once a week. African-American hair gets dry easily and washing it often takes away the natural oils in our hair and it becomes brittle and super dry. First, you should wash your hair with Neutrogena T/Gel Therapeutic shampoo. It's an anti-itch shampoo that can work wonders. Afterwards, have someone grease your scalp with Johnson Ultra Sheen Anti-Itch hairdress before you blow-dry your hair. You should get a curling-iron and flat iron too. They work just as well as a roller-set. Also, you should get into wrapping your hair every night. Get your hair used to maintanence and I'm definite your itching problems will go away. If this seems too much, you can also see a stylist once a week to keep up your hair and get some tips too.

Maintaining relaxed African American hair?

Use an herbal type hair grease on your hair...don't over heat it by drying it all the time...let it air dry at least twice a month

Maintaining relaxed African American hair?

ummm...wash your hair 3 times a week

NO shampoo....only Conditioner

Maintaining relaxed African American hair?

I found fresh lemon juice very useful.

Maintaining relaxed African American hair?

I am part African American and I wash my hair every 2 days. if I wait any longer my hair will itch like crazy. If you just need to mositurize it what I would recommend is to try Hot-Oil-Traetment. "Africa's Best Ultimate Herbal Oil". It eliminate's dry itchy scalp, it has no heavy build-up and reduces hair breakage. You can get it at either Wal-Mart or Sally's beauty Supply stores. I hope this helps.

Scene hair cut for relaxed african american hair?

okay so i m mixed, half white and half black and when i go off to college i want to have a new hair cut for a new me. i really want a scene type haircut maybe not to crazy but i dont mind it to be a liitle wild. anyway the point is that i need some scene hair cuts for people with my type of hair. and i also need to know what to do to keep it up because i cant just wake up and go with my type of hair. thanks!

Scene hair cut for relaxed african american hair?

Well really if your hair is straightened there is no real difference, except mantaince since your hair needs to be treated as relaxed hair (washing once a week, deep conditioning, etc..) still but also you will have to use heat, flat irons and blowdryers making even more damage.

Style like straight hair, and I recommened you "stretch out" your relaxer doing it only every 4 to 6 months. Hair care go to blackhairmedia.com, for styling get a professional who knows how to create "scene" hair.(Black salons wouldn't be the best place for styling.)

Scene hair cut for relaxed african american hair?

What's a "scene" haircut?

Scene hair cut for relaxed african american hair?

I suggest you go with a short crop. It is less maintenance and you can just wash it and go. I recommend you use a moisterizer to keep the curls from frizzing and looking dry. Just a dab in your palms and you're done.

Good luck!

Hair stlye for african american hair?

My husband is taking me out for my b-day next weekend. I was planning on getting my hair relaxed and a style. My friend told me I should get a dubie wrap. What is that? I do not got to the salon much and I always wear a ponytail to work. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance!!

Hair stlye for african american hair?

Yes, you can do it from home; but if you want to look your best, I would treat yourself and leave it to an professional.

Dry Wrap African (Afro) Hairstyle or Roller Wrap Set Black Hairstyle

(Doobie Wrap Black African Hairstyle)

========================

To do these hairstyles (aka; the doobie) you'll need to roller set

your hair as demonstrated

in Straw Set African Hairstyle instructions above.

INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1:Start by shampooing and conditioning hair and then apply setting lotion.

Step 2:Set your hair using desired smaller size rollers.

Step 3:Dry hair completely using a hooded dryer.

Step 4:Remove all rollers from your hair.

Step 5:Comb or brush your hair into a wrap hairstyle.

Step 6:Leave it wrapped for a while, and then after several minutes,

comb it downward into large lavish waves or curls.

Hair stlye for african american hair?

Hey,

This is Monique,

I think I've heard of a dubie wrap, but never actually saw it before (i think), but since it's going to be your b-day, then spruce up your hair, and get some twists going into a mo-hawk, and a hump in the front, unless you want to look a little bit growner, then ask somebody else, or ask me about another hair style!

Hair stlye for african american hair?

Just let it out. Big ol' fro. Just like in the 70's.

Hair stlye for african american hair?

relaxed or weave

Hair stlye for african american hair?

I know how you feel...I had no idea what a doobie was when ask at the salon. Everything old is new again. It's the same wrap used in the 70's/80's. wash, roll-up hair on smooth rollers, dry, comb-out and use head as one big ole roller - combing hair flat around head, overlapping and Bobbie penning over hair until it's all done. I do my own and leave hair wrapped (with a scarf) over night for my waist-length hair. Less time for shorter hair, I guess, since the head generates enough heat to "set" the hair into a smooth, straight style, without harsh blow drying or flat ironing. A little extra time and muscle but better for hair in the long run. If you get the wrrap done at the salon, leave it in until you're ready to normally do your hair.

Question about african american hair.?

why do black girls hair stay at one length for a LONNGG period of time and never seem to grow.Im half black but my hair grows and grows and grows.

but why is it like this for almost all black people is it because they cant take care of there hair properly or its just reached it maximum

Question about african american hair.?

Well im full black, actually 100% Haitian. My hair grows and grows, because I take good care of my hair. Every two weeks I wash %26amp; treatment my hair and every 2 months I get my hair relaxed. I dont do my hair at home, I do it a salon. I think that is the main reason why 'black' hair don't grow. Everyones hair is different. Some people have a healthy head of hair and others dont. If you see your hair doesn't grow you should consider doing your hair at a salon or just change your stylist.

Question about african american hair.?

no... that's some black ppl who dont take care of their hair... im black and my hair is to the middle of my back bc i take care of it...

Question about african american hair.?

I know how to take care of my hair. I regret the ones that you may have seen and not take care of their hair the way you deem as proper. However let's be fair!!!. There are some other races that do not take care of their hair as well as society deems fit.

How come it seems only caucasions get lice in their hair?

Question about african american hair.?

I am african-american and I can't speak for all of them, but I cut my hair up to my ears in August and it's now down to the middle of my back.

Question about african american hair.?

Hm..That's a good question.

First of all, Half-Black is originally called Half-Caste or Mulatto.

It's just the way their hair is really. Like, Egyptians have curly hair, South Asians have hair that bends sort of. African-Americans have thick hair. I think it happens through heritance and environmental.

Question about african american hair.?

Black hair is more coarse and thicker. As for your misconception that Black people can not take care of their hair properly, that's not correct. Black hair takes more care and attention, hair growth has nothing to do with how much care is taken with it.

My suggestion for you is to find and read books on black culture and especially black hair care.

Question about african american hair.?

I am a black girl and in July i got my hair cut about 2 inches shorter. My hair always seems to stay at the same length. I take care of it but dont like to wear it down often. Its mostly in a ponytial. My hair did break at some point or by now it would probably be a little longer than shoulder length.

Question about african american hair.?

it has to do with genetics. its the difference between why native americans have extremely "rapunzel type" long hair....your hair may grow long but it takes longer on average for a black person to grow their hair the same length as a caucasian or other "lighter skinned races"

Question about african american hair.?

cause a lot of then dont take care of there hair i know what you mena it's girls like that at my school, and cause tehre hair is really danmage i go to the salon and get my hair done and relaxed ever 2 mothns within a week my hair is gtrowing already

Question about african american hair.?

Yea some people may not take care of their hair but that also applies to all races.

The reason why it takes a LONNGG time for black hair to grow is because our hair is curly or kinky at the roots. When we have new growth it comes out wavy. Now think about this visually as if you were threading a needle; when you use a straight piece of thread it goes directly in the hole easily and you can pull it through. Now try to tread up a crumbled and jagged piece of thread it's harder to get it through.

Our hair takes longer to push through the scalp and grow.

Mixed people are often 'blessed' with hair that doesn't have this texture and is fairly easy to manage in nature. So don't assume everyone doesn't take care of their hair, just remember everyone isn't blessed with the better hair gene.

Growing my African american hair fast?

MY hair grows slow due to eczema of the scalp. is there any way or any product to grow my hair faster???

or something i can eat or do to naturally grow it out??? i know keeping the hair and scalp moisturized helps, what about massaging my scalp???

Growing my African american hair fast?

It sounds like you might need to talk to a dermatologist! Putting the wrong thing on your scalp might make things worse (it might clog pores). I don't have eczema, but have hair loss, and my dermatologist gave me a special strengthening shampoo that helped.

Growing my African american hair fast?

messaging always helps..

Growing my African american hair fast?

that helps. and even though you may not want to because it seems like you're cutting your hair off, you should get regular trims. make sure you still wash your hair on a schedule that works for you and try not to use too many chemicals. also the more you allow your hair to be free of chemicals, the better. light conditioners help to protect from breakage (optimum's moisture replenisher), and you should try to wait at list six weeks before putting a relaxer in your hair again. if you can, try to use an herbal relaxer (motions herbal relaxer) or something without a lot of harsh chemicals in it. good luck.

Growing my African american hair fast?

Use Re-Gro it grew my hair out fast also try braids they keep you out of your head

Growing my African american hair fast?

put it in braids and keep it in for a while i kept my cornrows i for like the whole summer my hair was really long when i took it out

Growing my African american hair fast?

try hot oil treatments

Growing my African american hair fast?

If you want hair to grow faster, you have to take supplements that work on your body chemistry to support hair's growth and strength at its genesis.....once it has grown out, it is just dead keratin

Try GNC, they make a supplement called "Nourishair" in formulas for men and women..they are HUGE pills and you have to take 2 daily. There is also a "Hair skin and nails" formula from Andrew Lessman that you can google, that has great ingredients and is easier to swallow, made by ProCaps labs. You can also take large doses of Biotin, sometimes called Vitamin H, take no less than 2500 micrograms daily to support healthy hair growth. IT may take 6 to 8 weeks to see results.

Why is african american hair looked down upon and any other type of hair is treasured?

I have always wondered why thick hair isn't as desired as thin hair. Is this just me or is this true?

Why is african american hair looked down upon and any other type of hair is treasured?

I have had African American friends tell me that managing their hair is a full time job and have resorted to straightening or very short hair.

I think it has more to do with our fast paced lives than being looked down upon.

Straight thin hair is just easier to manage.

I'm sorry you feel this way, maybe your perception of it is not accurate.

I live in California and maybe we are just more tolerant and accepting of different cultures.

Look for the good in people and you will surely find it....

Why is african american hair looked down upon and any other type of hair is treasured?

as a white girl with thin hair, i can honestly say, do what? i have never heard of this. could be a style thing or it could be you hang with the wrong crowd. i have a cousin with hair that is more wiry, curly and thick than anyone i know, white or black. she loves her hair so more power to her. accept yourself and your hair. good luck.

Why is african american hair looked down upon and any other type of hair is treasured?

I look down on rediculous purple or yellow braids and weaves my people be havin.

African American hair sweat when working out what should I do to minimize?

Im in college and in my kin class we do excercises that involves a lot of sweating I have a class afterward should I leave my hair wrapped while working out or put into a ponytail . Would wraping it stop it from sweating so much and looking frizzy?

African American hair sweat when working out what should I do to minimize?

you can wrap it before the workout but make sure to keep all the hair away from the forehead. if you wrap it too loosely, the hair resting on your forehead will get damp and frizz.

i find that the best thing to do is just put it in a ponytail. there is no real way of preventing the roots from sweating out. but to keep the ends crisp, just put them in a position that keeps them away from your face and neck.

African American hair sweat when working out what should I do to minimize?

I have the same problem. My hair is really soft %26amp;when I sweat,I sweat.Leavin it wrapped in a scarf only made me hotter during my workout,so now I just leave it in a ponytail.I'm thinkin about getting a weave somethin manageable so that I can workout %26amp; still look good w/o the frizzies.Any suggestions? Report It

African American hair sweat when working out what should I do to minimize?

a wrap would probably work better because a ponytail could get frizzy 2 but if it stayed in a wrap it probably would reduce frizziness

African American hair sweat when working out what should I do to minimize?

I would try keeping it wrapped, if that doesn't work then I would just get Micro braids. A relaxer should minimize the frizzies though. BUT, WON'T THE SCARF MAKE YOU HOTTER?

African American hair sweat when working out what should I do to minimize?

i dont know i have never tried a wrap but me and all my friends put all our hairs in a ponytail i also think it is healthier for hair im not sure but a friend told me that

African American hair is most fragile while it's wet.?

After i apply my leave in conditioner, when is the best time to comb my hair, to minimize breakage and shedding.

African American hair is most fragile while it's wet.?

I think you can use a wide toothed comb and gently comb is through, and then let it dry/dry it and then brush or comb however you want.

Yeah...everyone's hair is most fragile when wet, that's why sleeping with wet hair is bad. (I learned that the hard way). I'm glad you are being sensitive to it! (-=

African American hair is most fragile while it's wet.?

After you wash, rinse, and squeeze out most of water; then wrap hair in a towel for a few minutes to blot up more moisture [ don't rub hair with towel ], apply leave-in conditioner, and COMB [ no brushing while wet either ] out tangles.

Be sure to use a good deep conditioner two to four times a month as well.

African American hair is most fragile while it's wet.?

Do not listen to above. Only comb it in when it is wet, especially if it is relaxed. African American hair is intensely dry (most dry of other races) so it is best to comb it when it is wet and full of conditioner.

African American hair is most fragile while it's wet.?

as soon as you put in the leave in conditioner. it will help detangle the hair but once the hair is dried and hasn't been combed it can get matted and knotted. just comb it gently and you should be ok

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

ok so i just got my first realxer and it been 3 weeks and i want to put a few tracks in with bonding glue not the (black) glue i'll use the clear gold bond glue i heard it was safer...i just want o know what are the do's and dont's and how to keep my hair healthy,,,and from breaking... thanks

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

First don't is don't put the bond to close to the scalp, start about a cm away from the scalp. second don't is don't use to much conditioner when shampooing your hair w/ the extensions in because it can weaken the bond. third don't is don't get a relaxer while the extensions are in because they will just come right out. and when you to take them out use bond remover and be careful so you won't have any breakage. You don't really need to wash your hair that much it will make your hair look better and last longer. Good luck. Hope I helped. Please add me to your contacts and email me w/ any hair questions you have via yahoo answers.

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

What about braiding you hair and sewing the tracks to that? I think that would be a lot safer and less messy.

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

Do's

-Follow the relaxers guide on how long til you weave

-Use a cream on your roots every once in while to keep it fresh

-Shampoo with a gentle formula (same for conditioner)

-Try not to swim and get it too wet

-Before you apply, put a lil bit of cooking oil on yer hair for softness

Donts'

-the opposite of evrything above

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

Omg, you should visit this website http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/. It will answer every question you have about styling and caring for your hair no matter the texture.

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

I have used the Black Glue. It did take my hair out. I of course, applied it myself and tried to take it out myself.

I didn't know they had clear Bond Glue, But Glue is Glue. Just be extra careful putting it in. Get someone, who you feel you can trust, to be careful applying it to your hair, and when you are ready to take it out, have that someone you trust take it out carefully. so as not to cause damage to your own hair. Good Luck.

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

first off i dont think getting a sow-in is better because it is pulling on the braid an there is a guarantee of some breakage but it does make you look more natural an pretty...... if you glue in your hair try not to get the glue on your hair and when you wanna take it out use some type of oily oil sheen or baby oil and once you get it out wash your hair to get the glue out.

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR IS STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE THE GLUE.

WHEN PARTING THE HAIR MAKE SURE YOUR HAIR IS LAID GOOD SO WHEN YOU TAKE IT OUT IT WONT PULL LOOSE STRANDS .DO NOT PUT ALOT OF GLUE ON THE TRACK CUZ IT WILL HURT WHEN U TAKE IT OUT N MIGHT PULL SOME HAIR OUT AS WELL.MAKE SURE ITS COVERED GOOD THO CUZ U DONT WANT IT TO BE LOOSE N 2 DAYS.WHEN APPLYING THE TRACK DONT APLY ON THE SCALP OR ON THE ROOT JUST A LIL BELOW THE ROOT OF YOUR HAIR TAKE SUM SPRITZ AND SPRAY ON THE TRACK ADD PRESSURE AS WELL.THEN TAKE A BLOW DRYER AND RUN IT ACROSS THE TRACK 4 TIMES.MAKE SURE YOU COMB EACH TRACK AFTER SO YOUR HAIR WONT BE TANGLE.

USE A GOOD FLAT IRON TO MAKE YOUR HAIR LOOK NATURAL .

P.S WRAP YOUR HAIR FOR BOUT A WEEK BEFORE PUTTING IN TRACKS IT WILL GIVE U THAT BOUNCE AND YOU WONT HAVE TO USE SO MUCH HEAT

PSS.WHEN TAKING THEM OUT USE BABY OIL OR OLIVE OIL ,AND MASSAGE THE SCALP DONT TRY TO GLUE YOUR TRACKS BACK IN IF THEY COME LOOSE BY YOUR SELF.IM TELLING YOU ,YOU WILL MESS UP !!!

African American hair styling(bonding tracks) glue in extenstions?

yeh i sew tracks...but remember if you used glue, glue to the scalp* not hair.
