What kind of treatment for african american hair?

i have a good friend who is african american, and a couple months ago she tried to straighten her hair herself. but she burned it and it started falling out. now she has really short hair but it is very dry and brittle, she thinks it won't grow out again.can anyone suggest something to help her out,,thanks

What kind of treatment for african american hair?

On rare occasions hair does not grow back, but that is usually the result of chemical damage. Since it is short now all the damaged hair should already be cut off. If not she needs to have that done. For a while at least she need to stick with something that won't further damage her hair. I would suggest letting it dread up. Short dreads look good would be acceptable at any workplace. She could also braid her hair. I'm not to sure about a weave right now, but at the very least she needs to avoid heat and chemicals. That means no relaxers. She may want to use a conditioner like Queen Helene Hair Cholestoral.

What kind of treatment for african american hair?

Tell your friend to wash and condition her hair weekly with Motion shampoo and conditioner. Sit under the dryer while the conditioner is still in the hair for 7 to 10 minutes. Rinse and style. Also please please keep the heat out of the hair it will dry out the hair and continue to break. Try that treatment for 3 to 6 weeks and I bet she will see the difference.

What kind of treatment for african american hair?

After washing her hair, she should leave the conditioner in her hair for about 30 min, then rinse. If she doesn't want to sit under the dryer, use a blow dryer with a comb. after that use a moisturizer like Pantene for African Americans and then style as usual. Use the moisturizer every day. And the next time she relaxes her hair tell her not to scratch prior to and put conditioner at the ends of her hair to avoid breakage.

What kind of treatment for african american hair?

Tell your friend to wash and condition her hair every week. Trim it regulary and get a Lace Front Wig to give her hair a rest. Tell her she can email me at hiredantere@yahoo.com. This is the most natural looking way to discuise damaged hair whil you let it grow out. Check out my ebay austion anyone interested. The item number is 250124888111. my prices are the lowest you will find for the highest quality product. Check it out I truely feel like you could benefir from this.

Good Luck with the rest but do not put any harsh chemicals or heat in the hair. When the hair is damaged already further damage will occur. Maybe if her career would allow it she could try braids for a little while but be careful THESE WILL EVENTUALLY TAKE OUT HER HAIR TOO!!!

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

My hair is medium length but, I want to try to continue to grow it instead of cutting it off. I am a female African American so, I need to know some methods on, how to help my hair grow faster and look healthier. I also use relaxer's on my hair every month to straighten it out. Please help me find some way of helping my hair grow faster!

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

You only need to do touch up when you relax your hair monthly. Only on the new growth. Then you need to keep moisture in your hair. Chemicals tend to dry out hair. Need to find an excellent hair dress or cream with natural herbs, vitamins in it and message your scalp at least three times a week. This will help stimulate the scalp by making the blood circulate to the hair follicles, promoting hair growth. I use Mane 'N Tail Hair products on my relax hair and it's in great shape, and has a lot of moisture. Shiny, healthily. Everyone can take prenatal vitamins and under the Black Hair Care website it says hair need moisture to grow.

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

talk to it and buy some miracle grow.

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

I really don't think that there is a way to make your hair grow faster but I have heard that prenatal vitamins help.

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

i wish i really knew the answer, but i dont...

well, when i was younger, my mom washed mya hair w/ mayo., %26amp;eggs. then she put it in braids. weave grew my hair, it was all the way down my back. then my mom swiched perms, and my hair came out. it is growing back cuz i wear dreads for abouty 5 weeks at a time. it actually grows

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

there's a product called doo grow it worked wonderful my hair broke off badd because of my scalp and my mom used that and and growed back fast she knows how 2 get my hair back in shape because thats wut she does is hair all day everyday

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

Our hair length is genetically determined. We can't do anything to change that. My sister's hair will grow to her butt, mine will only grow just past my shoulders. All you can do is protect the hair you have to keep it from breaking off. I would stop using the relaxers and try a different way to style your hair. Use plenty of moisturizing conditioners, keep it trimmed, and it will look healthier. Healthy hair looks longer anyway because it breaks off less. Just treat it gently.

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

You can't make it "grow faster",but you can protect the ends by sewing in a weave for a month or so. Skip the relaxer the next month and have your hair redone with the sew in weave...after 2 -2in a half months your hair will have grown out, then when you relax it again you will the difference.

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

Using a good conditioner and keeping the ends trimmed promotes healthy hair growth. Oil scalp and massage depending on the dryness of your hair and scalp everyday or every other. Try not to perm every month unless it's done by a professional if you must. Peace!

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

Flaxseed oil - one tbsp daily or one tablet and buy flaxseed seed boil a handfull with 16 oz of water and use it as a leave in conditioner it helps to grow and make it thicker.

I latin and i use relaxer for my thin hair man, i did damaged but this help alot.

my friend she is African American, she is very happy with her hair now. good luck.

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

- How fast your hair grows has more to do with genetics and nutrition than anything else. You can't do much about genetics, (my mom's hair always grew really fast; so does mine!) but you CAN take vitamin supplements within reason.

- Also, a lot of people who think their hair isn't growing all that fast are really experiencing excessive breakage. Chemicals weaken the hair shaft and tend to cause it to break off more easily. You can switch back to the pressing comb. Even though heat also damages hair, it doesn't seem to be as extreme. AND, you can counteract the effects of heat damage with various products, - conditioners, treatments.

- Some people believe that braiding helps, and maybe it does. But, I've heard others say that it makes their hair break easier.

- The trick for healthy hair that grows as fast as it can is good nutrition, healthy lifestyle (even medications will effect the luster and strength of your hair), and get as close to natural as possible to minimize styling damage. :-)

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

Hi there. I'm caucasion. But I agree with the prenatal vitamins. The thing is, since I take medication that causes my hair to fall out. My doctor gives me prenatal vitamins, because they have zinc and selinium in them. So you can simply go to the drug store and buy zinc and selinium. This won't help it grow faster, but it will stop it from falling out. My hair is so think, I have it layered, and I thin it with a man's hair cutter I bought, that has the big teeth. But it wants to fall out on top, where I first color it. It falls out in hand fulls every time I wash it. So the zinc %26amp; selenium or prenatal vitamins help. I go buy them on sale at the drug store for buy one, get one free. The dollar stores, do not carry the same mg. I wouldn't go there. Now you don't notice the thining. I know mayonaise is loaded with great things for hair, but check around for african american, I don't know about that? Plz let me share a funny with you. I have to take xanax and all these strong medications, so when I asked the druggest for prenatal vitamins, as I'm 52, I wish you could have seen the schock on her face. It was priceless. I thought I'd die laughing. Then I had to explain this to her.

Try this website:

http://www.ubhpublications.com/index.htm...

I have been using these products for almost a year and following Cathy Howe's instructions from her book. I have almost 7 inches of growth. My hair is past my shoulder blades and is thick and coarse. You, like myself, maybe surprised.

Check out the before and after photos on this website. I am not on there. Yet.

One of Cathy's tips was to stop brushing your hair unless you are styling it. I did this and boy is there a difference.

I admire that you are trying to grow your own hair and not fall victim to the weave-a-do trend.

How can I make my hair grow faster; for african american hair types?

Eating a healthy diet. Avoid or cut back on smoking, drinking alcohol, caffeine and foods that are high in sugar or fat. These are all bad for your body, and will affect the condition of your hair.

Allow your body to grow hair by giving yourself plenty of sleep and rest. Give yourself time to relax when you're feeling very stressed.

Buy a good quality brush or comb - avoid cheap plastic brushes.

Treat your hair carefully by avoiding any unnecessary brushing.

Limit the use of styling tools such as straighteners, hair dryers and hot rollers - these all cause stress to your hair.

Have regular trims to get rid of split ends and to keep your hair looking and feeling healthy.

Weekly scalp massages provide stimulation to the hair follicles.

Also do a weekly hair treatment to protect the hair's shaft.

Avoid chlorine and saltwater. If you go swimming, shampoo your hair as soon as possible afterwards. If you spend alot of time in the sun, use a conditioner that provides SPF protection.

Do not brush your hair when wet. Use a wide tooth comb and be gentle with your hair when it is wet. Do not rub it vigorously with a towel

What To Use To Make African American Hair Grow?

What specific products would one use to make African American's person's hair grow hair to mid back? No perms, or any chemicals. Please help me.

Thanks

What To Use To Make African American Hair Grow?

I take about 100mg of Biotin and vitamin B supplements along with moisturizing my hair daily with a water based moisturizer .

Wash your hair once a week with a Moisturizing shampoo such as Nexxus Therappe or Creme of Nature .

Condition afterwards with a Moisturizing conditioner such as Nexxus Humectress ,Oyin Honey Hemp,Aubrey Organics Honeysuckle .

Apply a leave in and let Airdry ,Heat can seriosly damage your hair so if u can ,AVOID IT!

Massage your scalp with a natural oil such as Carols Daughter Lisa s Elixir or Wild Growth Oil .

MOISTURE IS THE KEY !

AVOID:

Mineral oil and petroleum-based products can really be counterproductive to that goal. These types of products work well at either sealing moisture in or keeping moisture out. Problem is, the porosity of AA hair make it difficult for the cortex (the hair閳ユ獨 inner core) to retain moisture in the first place. So if your hair doesn閳ユ獩 hold moisture, there is nothing to seal in. And if you閳ユ獧e using mineral oil or petroleum-based products you閳ユ獫e now created a water-resistant barrier that will keep moisture from getting in. And since AA hair is inherently dry, you閳ユ獧e only compounding your problems with having dry hair. Again, if you閳ユ獫e got issues retaining moisture to begin with, best to steer clear of these types of products.

And if you must use oils, opt for essential oils and butters. They閳ユ獧e permeable, meaning they mix well with water and allow your hair to breath.

What To Use To Make African American Hair Grow?

Trim it every two months. Only like half an inch and don't cut it otherwise and it should grow to be healthy and long.

What To Use To Make African American Hair Grow?

I noticed that drinking lots of water ...trimming your ends and not stressing out helps your hair grow. Ive been here and there with my hair and let me tell you for while it just would not grow ...mainly due to stress which could be a huge problem for hair not growing. Also try not to put to much hair serum or grease in the hair because it tends to clog the pores ...when you blow dry your hair try not to get close with the blow dryer and always deep condition the hair but not over condition GOOD Luck!!!

What To Use To Make African American Hair Grow?

Well massaging the scalp always helps. It enhance the hair gowth. Eat diet rich in biotin (oats etc). And massage the hair with olive or almobd oil.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

When I was younger my mom hated doing my hair because it was so curly and dense. She would break combes trying to put a part in it. I never really paid much mind to it until I got to ATL and the weather started messing it up. Thats when I got a perm. It grew and grew and grew into a very nice length. But now 5 years later I feel like I've turned my back on my African American roots. Part of me wants to cut it off and start over. But I LOVE MY PERMED HAIR. Does this make me ashamed of my blackness.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

No it does not. I have had my hair relaxed, natural, and braided. That is the beauty of African American hair! It is so versatile.

The only time I think someone is ashamed of their blackness is when they think that African american hair in its natural state is "ugly" and that is their reason for straightening it. It is a personal choice, just like having long or short hair. Just be sure of the reason why you "love your hair permed"....

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

No, it doesn't make you ashamed.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

No it just means your hair is very difficult to deal with and that you want to make it more manageable. Nothing wrong with that :).

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

Omg! Be Black %26amp; Proud! African-American people are beautiful. I personally say, be proud of your hair. If you have a problem and maybe want it softer: take a good conditioner: (Dont wet hair) leave it on, and wait an hour, then wash it. and in the morning shampoo %26amp; condition it in the morning. Do lots of brushing...OR just go ask a salonist!

Just Remember! Be proud of who you are!

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

No you should have your hair the way you like it. If it makes you feel better about yourself then then keep it permed.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

It definitely doesn't. I have really straight "Asian" hair, and I want to get it permed. It has nothing to due with how I feel about my heritage, just what works for me.

If you love your hair as it is, than keep it. You're doing what any girl would do.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

Black people do all kinds of things with their hair when they are older. It doesn't make you ashamed, it just means you want to try something different.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

noo girls dye their hair all the time

does that mean they hate their genes?

go for it, whatever makes you feel your at your best

:]

plus your still reppin the skin color

:]

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

No way! It is just like when someone with straight hair wants curly, and someone with curly hair wants it to be straight. In the end, we all have our bad hair days.:)

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

no look at my hair

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

im trying to work with it i want to grow it long

u ahve to do whatever to deal with ur hair

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

African-American hair is NOT unmanageable, you just have to know the correct way to handle it, and no, perming your hair does not make you ashamed of your blackness, if you were perming it, dyeing it blonde and wearing blue contacts, I would have a different answer.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

tyra banks, naomi campbell, kerry washington are all gorgeous african american women who are not the least bit ashamed of their african american roots, but still have unconventionally long hair. i think that you should keep your hair the way it is as long as you like it ! if it looks good keep it, the only way you would be turning your back on your roots is if you were growing your hair because you were ashamed of your ethnicity, which i'm sure you arent. keep the long hair if you like it! ( although i love rihanna's bob cut, you should try that if you decide to cut your hair anytime soon) hope that helped!

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

probably

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

No that doesn't make you ashamed of your black hair. Personally, I love natural hair and that's why I chose to cut all the relaxer out and start over. There is nothing wrong with choosing to get relaxers though.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

no

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze gurl there is to much other stuff to worry about. You dont have to be ashamed of anything. Thats like someone white asking, should I be ashamed of my whiteness because I went to get a tan. DO YOU!

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

U should NEVER be ashamed of your ROOTS because it's a part of who U are as an individual. The GREATEST LOVE is within yourself therefore embrace, honor and love every aspect of yourself!!! :---}

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

People modify their bodies all the time for the both the sake of easier maintenance and their appearance.

Dark haired girls with, say, ancestry in southern European regions, dye their hair blonde-- but generally not because they're ashamed of not being ancestrally Nordic, or Germanic-- but simply because they think they look better blonde. Blonde girls often dye their hair dark-- but generally not because they're ashamed of their ancestral roots. I dyed my hair purple when I was younger, but not because was ashamed of being Indian, or human, for that matter.

Then again, a lot of Indian girls (for one example) wear blue contacts or try and lighten their skin based on a a specific image of beauty-- which almost definitely comes from a western cultural hegemony. That kind of scares me. But, I really don't compare that line of thinking to you making your hair both easier to maintain, and as such, probably more versatile.

I don't think you're ashamed of anything-- you're changing your hair to suit your personal style and preferences like hundreds of other girls do.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

Hey...if you like your hair the way it is, you're in the minority, I think. Why mess up a good thing? I dye my hair darker, but that hardly means I'm ashamed to be white.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

it doesnt make u ashamed

it jus means that u want a easier type of hair 2 matain

i do the same thing

try getting braids then so u dont have 2 work about combing it and it will grow still

and if u dont straiten ur hair and use grease and put it in ponytails it will b the nice curly stuff u had b4

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

Part of the problem is that many people with kinky hair are not taught how to properly care for their hair. It's not straight, so you shouldn't be using the same type of fine tooth comb that a person with straight hair would use. If you love permed hair, all that means is - you love permed hair - so what! Wear it. It is nice though, when people with kinky hair come to a point where they learn to love what they have naturally and realize that there are an unlimited amount of ways it can be worn - chemical free. But wear you hair any way you like. The real you, is the person on the inside, it's your heart that matters, not your hair.

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

u know i see what u r saying.

my cousins have hair like that and some friends. u just have to know how to style it. my one cousin(african american/spanish) just puts herhair in a pony tail with side bangs but this girl at my school has her hair short and straight with gold-like highlights it is amazng. u would have to have a pcture to truely picture it.

no that doesn not make you ashamed of your "blackness"

you just dont really like your hair (i dont either)

i think you should cut it shorter but not too short

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

no,i got a perm and i'm mixed, don't be ashamed because you still have natural african american hair the new growth is your natural hair and perms make your hair straight but if you only blow dry your hair after washing it you have your half natural hair

:) it's fine:)

I feel so ashamed of my African American hair?

yes

Hair care tips:

Apply little or no heat to your hair

wash and condition it your hair once or twice a week

don't brush you hair, use a wide tooth comb

If your hair is tangled, use detangler

wrap your hair up at night with a silk scarf

relax your hair every 6-8 weeks (if you get perms)

MOST IMPORTANTLY! Get you ends clipped every 4-6 weeks or as often your beautician tells you.

No ponytails! They do not grow your hair, it breaks off your edges, and split your ends. If your going to wear ponytails please don't wear them often.

Can someone give me hair care tips for african-american hair?

I try to get a perm every 6 weeks. I also wrap my hair at night to keep it from rubbing out. I keep my hair in a ponytail now so that it can grow out. Having your hair in braids also helps it to grow. Use a perm with no lye in it and also follow the directions carefully. Go to a salon and get your hair did=) and ask the beautician what is the best way to maintain good healthy hair ( i would go to a black beautician) Also eating healthy helps your hair. And grease that scalp to stop itching. I use African Pride perms and Panteen Pro V shampoo's and conditioners ( the ones in the brown bottles) When shampoo bottles say 'normal hair' up there they are not referring to black people. Use something that has a detangler in it.

Can someone give me hair care tips for african-american hair?

It's a simple ingredient thing. STAY AWAY from products with mineral oil in it! It will cause your hair to break! Try to stay away from chemically treating your hair too if your hair is prone to breakage.

Try using Redkens products and BioSilk products! Typically these products are generated for caucasians, they are excellent on african american hair. :] Keep your hair moisturized with deep and leave in conditioners as well.

Feel free to email me if you have anymore questions! It took me YEARS to learn what works best with my hair, but I finally figured it out! Good luck! :]

Can someone give me hair care tips for african-american hair?

If you want your hair to grow you have to have a healthy scalp. Everything you put in your body affects what you look like on the outside. Add a women's multi-vitamin to your diet. I'm black and I've had hair halfway down my back, and I've also had hair 2 inches long. For the hair you already have on your head- use a leave-in conditioner, heat protecting products like thermasilk or biosilk, wash your hair everyother day to protect hair's natural oils, and always air dry or use a diffuser. Good luck, and love yourself no matter what your hair looks like!

Goldwell is awesome.

Go to your hairdresser to have the initial dye done, so she can trim your dead ends. That way, the color won't be as damaging.

What is a good hair color brand for african american hair?

Jazzing is a good brand, I would say Dark %26amp; Lovely but try their semi-perm... not permanent color. A brand that does not have ammonia or peroxide, or low ammonia and no peroxide which means a rinse, cellophane, or semi-permanent color because it is healthiest on African American hair. Be careful if your hair is permed or relaxed because double process can be damaging as well... so stick to rinses and cellophanes.

Whats a good straighting product for african american coarse, kinky, thick hair?

I was looking for a product that works on african american hair. I saw products like Bed Head Control Freak, Joico K-Pak Smoothing Balm, Paul Mitchell's Super Skinny, and Aveda, but i didnt know if any of these products would work on my hair type. Precise is a FABULOUS relaxer. It doesn't leave the hair with that dried out look, but it conditions the hair as well giving it sheen. If your hair is stubborn, I recommend you use a "super" strength on any relaxer you choose for best results.

Good Luck!

Whats a good straighting product for african american coarse, kinky, thick hair?

Fantasia's Silky Smooth Straightening Creme has worked for me as well for my sisters. It is used for all hair types and also moisturizes and shines the hair too-- great to have during humid weather. And it does protect the hair from damage of any heat appliance.

Where can I find an african american hair stylist in portland, Oregon or in surrounding cities?

I am black and latino and I really need my hair treated. I just dont know where is the best place to go so that I do not end up bald (ok im exagerating). Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

Hi, I'm African-American and I have long hair...I wanted to know if I could use flat irons or will my hair be damaged? One beautician said it's fine for my hair, the other said it wasn't. Ughh lol does anyone know from experience or can help me in some way? When I used it once at a beauty salon it worked wonders lol

Thanks!

Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

You need a PROFESSIONAL ceremic flat iron, it will be easier on your hair, and also straighten it better. Mix a "cocktail" of mousse and straightening serum and put it in your hair while your hair is still damp from the shower (put it in the ends first, and work your way up toward the scalp). Blow dry your hair straight, and sleek it with a little more staightening serum. The serum also helps to protect your hair from heat. The straighten it with the flat iron. Add a little more serum if necessary.

I think curly African-American hair is pretty too!

Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

It depends which one it is.

Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

like anything, too much heat is not good for our hair, yet we have been putting a hot comb to it since madame c j walker, and before. i always use black and gold, and use it just as a touch up , not everyday.

Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

I use the Conair ceramic Technology almost everyday on my hair, on low settings though b/c it's very powerful, of course flat irons r OK on black ppl hair.......(just like the perm, it wasn't only made for your more smooth straight hair)

Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

yea they are ok to use as long as you don't use it everyday....i have a conair slim flat iron and it works very good

Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

let a professional do it and it will help but remember everything us women do to our hair damages it in some way so be mindful of how often you straighten it.

Are flat irons safe for African-American hair?

Yes as long as you don't flat iron your hair more than twice a week and keep your hair moisturized

If u have african american hair, can it still be healthy if you perm it?

She says:

Relax with Motions relaxer

Deep condition your hair every week to 2weeks. She likes Lekair Cholesterol or Queen Helene Cholesterol which she leaves in for an hour before washing out.

She says she protein treats her hair every 2months. Make sure you deep condition after a protein treatment. For protein she uses Aphogee treatment or Motions CPR.

Try to limit heat use to once a week or less. You can rollerset the hair to keep it healthy instead of using heat. If you do use heat make sure you use a heat protectant (Redken heat glide or isoplus heat protectant spray). She washes her hair with Creme of Nature shampoo and conditions it with Suave or V05 conditioners (which ever one smells good. She only trims her hair every 6months, and only if she has split ends.

If u have african american hair, can it still be healthy if you perm it?

Yeah girl, I just got a perm in not to long ago, and it was pretty bad, it was dry damaged and really brittle. But once I put in this perm it got real relaxed and it shined to the perfect luster. It turned out to be real nice. it layed it down and it actually makes your hair grow faster. Just keep it trimmed every two weeks and wash it every three weeks. It will turn out beautiful! Good luck. Send me the results!

If u have african american hair, can it still be healthy if you perm it?

It can be healthy if you get it professionally perm every time. Then, go for a protein treatment two wks after the perm. Get ends trimmed every two to three months. And in between salon time keep hair washed, conditioned, and moisturized.

If u have african american hair, can it still be healthy if you perm it?

Yes, if properly RELAXED (correct term)and maintained, African American hair can still be healthy. Conditioning and not using lots of heat on the hair can also keep it in shape. Keeping ends trimmed and sleeping on NON-cotton pillowcases or wearing a satin cap help also.

If u have african american hair, can it still be healthy if you perm it?

No, I don't perm my hair. I relax it with Olive Oil or T-Tree relaxers because you hair is soft and it makes it healthy. I just got a Olive Oil relaxer last week and my hair is nice, healthy, and smooth. Plus shiny, and it moves and you know us africa americans hair never moves.

If u have african american hair, can it still be healthy if you perm it?

I permed my own hair with a Fabulaxer and it came out really good. I chose to use Pantene Pro-V Products to keep it healthy. Also I use Infusium 23 as a leave in conditioner at least once a week. My hair is very shiny and still lays down after four weeks with new growth.

If u have african american hair, can it still be healthy if you perm it?

im black and my hair is realxed i take care of it side the fact i do all kind of crazy ness to it like teaseing it and lots of hairspray i so the salon and make sure it's doing good and i use good products like i use tresemme moisture rich i want o start using redken and yes you cn have realxed hair and have it healty :p

I am an African American and I am trying to do things to get my hair to grow閳ユ攦an anyone answer these

I know that applying heat often to African American hair isn't good, which is why I don't curl/flat-iron my hair but once every two weeks or so (I wrap it up to keep it's style). But does anyone know of any really good flat-irons that work good on my hair? I saw an infomercial once about a flat-iron that actually combed the hair as it straightened it, unlike other flat -irons. Also, what are some really good and healthy shampoos and conditioners that I could use? Also, is it better to not get too many perms/relaxers? would that help my hair grow?

thank you for anyone's help! =)

I am an African American and I am trying to do things to get my hair to grow閳ユ攦an anyone answer these questions

OK this is what u do. It may be expensive but trust me it will work

1. I would recomend u stay away from perms which are full of chemicals that damage hair and its easier to grow your hair when its natural anyways.

2. First a good starting point is to get a good clip. It doesn't necessarily make your hair grow faster but it will be healthier and easier to grow with even ends which makes it seem like it grows faster.

3. Invest in a good moisterizing shampoo and conditioner. Dont buy into that crap that says super grow and everything, its mostly filled with mineral oil and doesn't work. Black hair is fragily and dry and moiture keeps it healthy and strong which prevents breakage and helps it grow. Creme of nature and cantu are good choices. (I use them)

http://www.cremeofnature.com/

http://cantusheasoft.com/

4. Buy a heat protectant. This in addition to the flat iron will allow u to make even less damage to ur hair when using heat.

http://www.folica.com/FHI_Heat_Hot_Sa_d2...

http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.a...

5. This is the biggest but probably most beneficial investment. If you're going to starighten your hair, it needs to be ceremic or ionic which is MUCH healthier for your and has better results. Just read up on how it protects your hair from less damage in the link below. It has alot of before and after pics to prove it works .And sweetie, yes it works for coarse hair it dont cost that much for nothing!

I recomend the brands Solia and Sedu

http://www.folica.com/Solia_Tourmalin_r1...

http://www.folica.com/Sedu_Ionic_Cera_r1...

6. Invest in some vitamins. Some I would recomend are biotin, prenatal vitamins, or flaxeed fish oil( yea it sounds neasty but if fill with omega-3 and 6 which is great for hair.

7. Invest in a good NATURAL oil moiterizer. There are oils out there that are easy to find but make sure its natural and doesn't contain mineral oil. Lightly oil your hair every night before you wrap your hair.Organic root Stimulator is a nice one.

http://www.organicrootstimulator.com/

Well, thats about it if u keep up the regimin of

clip ends once every 6 weeks

wash hair every week

flat iron hair every week or two

take vitamins every day

wrap hair every night along with lightly oiling

In a little while you'll be fabulous but u have to be patient and stick to it! GOOD LUCK

Merry Christmas =)

I am an African American and I am trying to do things to get my hair to grow閳ユ攦an anyone answer these questions

chemicals like relaxers and perms damage the hair and make it harder to grow. if you really want to buy a flat iron, get one that has ionic settings.

I am an African American and I am trying to do things to get my hair to grow閳ユ攦an anyone answer these questions

If you take a daily vitamin, it doesn't matter what ethnicity you are, they will help your hair and fingernails grow. I am not african american, but I use Fructis length and strength shampoo and conditioner, plus take a daily multivitamin with vitamin E, and in 4 months, my hair grew about 4 inches.

I am an African American and I am trying to do things to get my hair to grow閳ユ攦an anyone answer these questions

well, I know the falt iron youre talking about, its called MAXIGLIDE you can find it at ULTA it works great, although my hair is curly and not kinky. ( so not sure how it works in that type of hair). sorry cANT help w/ the question bout hair grow !!

I am an African American and I am trying to do things to get my hair to grow閳ユ攦an anyone answer these questions

I definitely have the answers to all your trouble..sit back this will be long. I discovered this about 3 months ago and now my hair flows in the wind and is so weightless and healthy. And no i do not have a relaxer i stopped getting them 5 years ago ( and i've only have 3 relaxers in my life time so this is all natural) it amazes me. It is better not to get relaxer but if you do get the Mizani or Affirm, and only relaxer new growth (once you have relaxed your whole head )and try to stretch relaxers for as long as possible

1. The shampoo, unfortunately many black women are using shampoos with alcohol and petroleum jelly. step away from them. Use Aveda's shampoo.. specifically the name is Brilliant...go to the website. I use it, i love it, it mouisterizes my hair and the products are natural. i have also heard that KeraCare is good.

2. Okay, step two condition it and then it is time to comb it out, Do not use a brush on you hair when it is wet,,it will hate you for it then break off in revenge.

3. Do a hot oil treatment atleast once a month with extra virgin olive oil...repeat..EXTRA VIRGIN olive oil..not the regular stuff. unfortunately i have yet to take this step however my hair is doing great.

4. Okay on the daily basis you need to pay close attention to your hair...i recommend conditioning your scalp and your ends so that they will not get dry and unhealthy

Petroleum jellly and mineral oil are weapons of mass destruction,,it does so much harm to your hair it cannot be all explained here. So you ask what do I use...well natural oils

jojoba oi, extra virgin olive oil, sesame oil, emu oil, coconut oil...all these natural oils and more love you..i promise.

5. Next,,if you want your hair straight but still be natural it is time to get a freakin good flat iron.,i have the Chi..it does the job but I recommend getting the Sedu because of the good reviews. make sure to protect your hair..i have so thermal protector from Aveda.

6. Wrap your hair with a satin or silk scarf to protect it from breakage

7. Eat healthy, drink lots of water,

8. take multivitamins, and fish oil pills you can get from GNC.

Follow these steps and life will be good..the best part about flat iron (which i do once a week or every two weeks not everday since it will kill your hair) is that it is not stringy but thick and healthy, yet straight and light enough to blow in the wind.

Do oil treatments help African American hair grow? Also Whats another way?

Just wondering because I heard that doing oil treatments really grow out African American Hair and I really want my hair to grow. I don't use any chemicals besides perms so whats the next step. Plus I reall don't wanna get my ends clipped

Do oil treatments help African American hair grow? Also Whats another way?

Keep your hair moisturized too. Don't let it dry out. This helps against breakage.

Do oil treatments help African American hair grow? Also Whats another way?

A good diet, exersize and rest are the best for you hair, skin, mind and body.

Do oil treatments help African American hair grow? Also Whats another way?

Not really, but it makes the hair stronger, holds in moisture, and helps to stop breakage. But rosemary oil has been proven to stimulate the follicles and promote hair growth.

Hair dresser in Cincinnati, Columbus or Dayton that specializes in African American hair???

I am looking for a hair dresser in Columbus, Dayton or Cincinnati that specializes in African American hair. Someone who is at a legitimate salon.. you know the ones where you don't have to weight 5 hours to get in the chair but actually get waited on at your appointment time! It seems that people with good black hair dressers don't want to share the information. So help please... I am having a bad hair day!

Hair dresser in Cincinnati, Columbus or Dayton that specializes in African American hair???

its not quite in Nati or Dayton. But there is a salon named Naturally Nubian in Fairfield. They take care of mostly natural hair but if you relax i'm sure they can do that too 513-490-0465

Does Mane N Tail work for african american hair?

I was thinking about trying some of that stuff, but will it work for african american hair?

Have you tried it? If so what products of the line did you try?

Also if you have african american hair and you've tried it and it worked what were your results? (ex:4 inches in two months)

Does Mane N Tail work for african american hair?

I tried it, it did not do anything special for my hair. It actually made it kind of hard. I prefer creme of nature shampoo and organic root stimulator conditoners(protein) and nexxus humectress as a moisturizing conditioner.

It really just depends on the person, as you can see from the mixed answers you received.

It may or may not work for you, its all about trial and error.

Does Mane N Tail work for african american hair?

I've tried it and it worked pretty good but if you use it for a long time your hair will get thicker. That's why I stop using it. It made my hair grow about 2-3 inches.

Does Mane N Tail work for african american hair?

I have tried the shampoo and the conditioner. They work ok. They keave your hair really soft.

Does Mane N Tail work for african american hair?

i hope you know whats its made out of

Does Mane N Tail work for african american hair?

I've tried it, not to fond of it. But I also own horses and I use it on them. I didn't like the way it made them look either

Dominican stylist/salon for African American hair.?

Hi I would like to have my hair relaxed (touchup) and am having finding an affordable stylist I trust. Can anyone recommend a good salon/stylist in Manhattan/Harlem for a relaxer (touchup) for African American hair? Please give me as much detail as possible. salon, stylist, address, phone, price.

Thanks a bunch!

Dominican stylist/salon for African American hair.?

I wish I could help but have never in my life had a positive hair salon experience and cannot recommend a good stylist for you. The only thing I can tell you is not to have so much faith in Dominican salons because they aren't ALWAYS the best and I think by specifying that they must be "Dominican", you are limiting yourself from other stylists that may be as good if not better than the Dominican ones. I'm 18 and have only went to get my hair done in a salon once in my life. My mom usually does my hair and I'm generally satisfied with the results but decided that it would be a great experience to go to a salon for once and get my hair done by a professional. I couldn't have been more wrong. I went to a Dominican place recommended to me by a cousin to get a touchup and in the middle of applying the relaxer to my hair, the hairstylist stopped to talk to her friend. When I told her my scalp was burning, she just sprayed some hair spray on my head and continued to take her time. She finally washed the relaxer out of my hair a whole hour later! Afterwards, she unevenly trimmed the ends of my hair and blew my hair out until it started to make smoke. My mother and I were horrified! While the hairstyle I got was nice and straight, the damage it caused to my hair is something I have to cope with to this day. So please don't make the same mistake I did and assume that Dominican hair salons are superior to others.

Dominican stylist/salon for African American hair.?

hey, I actually go to an Dominican salon in Manhattan and it's very cheap and they are uber fast and hair comes out very nice. it's on 145 street..i forget the name but I'll try and get back to you. check it out. :-)

So, I was wondering if there are any good flat-irons I can get from Target or Walmart that work on African-American hair and that is less than Fifty bucks. Thanks.

try using dark n lovely hair relaxer.

What's the best flat iron for African-American Hair I can buy at Target or Walmart for less than $50?

For under $50?

Not possible.

Save and get a GOOD iron and invest in hair serum as well that will keep your hair down.

Getting a better flat iron will not only give you far better results but will probably be made of ceramic, the end result which will lead to less damage to your hair.

Invest in some hair sprays too, to put in after and to add some weight to your hair to keep it from puffing.

I use Alternatives by soft sheen hair spray.

For about 35$ you can get the helen of troy straightener at Sally's Beauty Supply and that thing is amazing!

What are some good products for African American Damaged hair?

um I use pink lotion, other then that I can't think of any more.

What are some good products for African American Damaged hair?

You're hair is probably damaged because the hair dye you're using has ammonia and because youre not waiting as much as you should be to dye it again. I suggest using a hair dye with no ammonia, which works the same as the ones who have it. Natural Match and Natural Instincts are good hair dye brands with no ammonia.

Any product suggestions for naturally curly African-American hair?

Hi!

I am an african american young lady who had stop perming my hair years ago in order to let my naturally curly grow in. Now that I no longer have a perm, it's like getting to know my hair all over again. I have tried several products (i.e. creams, leave-ins, foams, lotions, etc.) but can't find the right combo for my hair. The products either leave my hair too frizzy, too dry, too hard, too big, etc. Just to give you an idea of what my texture looks like, it's similar to Kelis's hair was before she recently cut it of or like Beyonce's hair in it's natural state.

Any product suggestions for naturally curly African-American hair?

Truthfully, I don't know but this site's forum is especially for african american women and discusses hair products. It is really good and might give you a few ideas.

pantene v leave in conditioner. You use it daily. It makes your hair soft and healthy.

Any product suggestions for naturally curly African-American hair?

I too have curly hair and I feel your pain. I tend to like Pink Moisture products. They give the hair moisture without creating mass volume or a dry frizzy look. these products are available at Sally Beauty Supply.

Any product suggestions for naturally curly African-American hair?

My mom is mixed and I just look like a white boy with big lips and a fro. However, I straighten (perm) my hair and so does my mom. However, there are people in our family that go with the natural curly look. Girl I feel you because I know half of the idiots that read this don't know what a perm is to a black girl. Eww don't use Pink products like the person above suggested. They leave your hair greasy. Also when your hair is dry and you put it on it makes it looks shiny...but it looks like shiny frizz which is not attractive. I tried going with the curly hair too, but I like to change it up so that I don't have the same look every year. I really like the Ion products for moisturizing. However, I could never find a good daily leave-in. But their wash-out conditioners are really good. The best thing I can think of for you is a product called Freedom. It's an alternative to perming and doesn't have ANY chemicals. You can just leave it in for twenty-30 minutes and put curlers in your hair so that you don't lose any of your curl. It gives you really soft curls.

Any product suggestions for naturally curly African-American hair?

There is a product line invented by a biracial lady where I live in Sacramento called CURLS. She invented it because most products for african american hair were too heavy, oily or drying. The mainstream products just made her hair a ball of fluff. I will put the link below.

What is a good hair dye for African American Hair ?

I am have not put a hair dye in my hair for awhile and was wondering what is a good hair dye for African American. Also my hair texture is coarse. Thank you in advance for responses.

What is a good hair dye for African American Hair ?

The best product to use for dying your hair a permanent color would be Clairol Texture N' Tones Permanent Hair coloring, Cream of Nature Hair Coloring, and/or Dark N' Lovely Hair Coloring. They give great results and are true to bringing out the color that is on the box. The only thing is it's safer to get your hair permanently dyed by a beautician. The risk of damaging your hair by doing a permanent coloring on your hair @ home is high. If you can't afford to go to the beautician / or you don't know which color you would like to have, why not try Jazze's Semi-Permanent Hair Coloring. They have so many different colors to choose from, it's temporary (washes out after seven shampoos), and healthier (no ammonia or peroxide), and the color comes out bold. And once you've found the color that you would like to go with, you've tried it, you liked the way it looks on you, you want it permanently, then have your beautician dye your hair that color. Remember, though, that if you do a permanent Jet-Black it will be extremely hard to dye your hair a lighter color. So please be sure that when you dye it a permanent dark, it's the color you want for a long time.......:-) Good luck with your color

What is a good hair dye for African American Hair ?

You've very welcome. I know that you will look fierce, Mama, with whatever color you may choose. Good luck and oh, deep condition your hair after you color. Even if it's semi-permanent, please condition.... :-) Have a great day!!!!! Report It

My best friend uses Dark %26amp; Lovely and I really do think she has beautiful hair and color. I would try that one for sure.

What is a good hair dye for African American Hair ?

It depends on your skin color. I'm light brown and so is my hair color, also has natural streaks of red in it. I recommend if you are light then try Light brown, medium red, or auburn. If you are darker then try vibrant reds, blonde, or honey blonde.

A good name brand for a hair rinse for African American hair...?

Also, do I have to have a hair dryer?

Its in a bottle so you can use it more than once.

As for shampoo and conditioner, I use garnier fructis length and strength.

閳?br>A good name brand for a hair rinse for African American hair...?

idk about the rinse but for the breakage you should try aphogee... i got it from sallys beauty supply...idk if they have one around where your from but you can probably find iit on the internet

you just need to follow the directions... i hope this works

A good name brand for a hair rinse for African American hair...?

Sorry don't know any good name brand hair rinses. A good shampoo and conditioner is:

Shampoo:

:Creme of Nature Ultra Moisturizing

:Neutrogena Triple Moisturize Lather

Conditioner:

:Olive Oil Replenishing Pak

:Organic Root Stimulator Hair Mayo

:Nuetrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

:Nexxus Humectress

The first two conditiners I mentioned are protein conditioners and the other two are just moisturizing conditioners. Alternate week to week between a protein conditioner and moisturizing conditioner for about a month until your hair gets into relatively good shape. Then you can start doing just moisturizing treatments with one protein treatment once or twice a month. To many back to back protein treatments can make the hair hard and break it off.

What should i do with my african american hair/?

i don't know what to do with my hair. i am half mexican and half african american and i don't know if i should relax it or let my curls grow back. when i was younger my hair was curly but then my mom relaxed my hair and now it's all dry.now i am trying to grow out my curls. i only have about an inch to an inch and a half of curls and the rest of my hair is nappy and dry.(typical black hair) what im asking for is that you help me decide- do i relax it and forget about the curls;grow out my hair and for however long it takes for my curls to grow out just leave it natural; or c-get something done chemically to make my hair curly?

What should i do with my african american hair/?

relax it- african american hair takes forever to brush and stuff if its left curly

What should i do with my african american hair/?

I would let your curls grow out. More chemicals will ruin it even more. It will take a while to grow your hair out, but it will be worth it. Do you really want to relax your hair for the rest of your life? If you don't mind short hair, I would cut off all of the relaxed part too.

What should i do with my african american hair/?

Buy Wild Growth Hair Oil it is for all hair types

It works great and one bottle lasts for a year

Just please try it ........ you can buy it on their website or you can go to Sally's Beauty Supply store

What should i do with my african american hair/?

Don't put anymore chemicals in your hair, especially if you want it curly. Just grow your hair out and cut a little of the relaxed stuff off every 6-8 weeks. Check this website for tips on growing your hair out faster/

What should i do with my african american hair/?

You could get extensions. Your hair can be growing out underneath, so when you are tired of the extensions, take them out and then relax your hair.

What should i do with my african american hair/?

the more chemicals you put in your hair, the more your hair is going to get like you have it now...since you are mixed, what may be happening is that as with many mixed latinos as you grow older, your hair gets more curly (tighter)...but, you should not feel bad about that...your hair was obviously damaged with the stuff that your mom put in it...what you need to do is condition and treat your hair in order for it to become healthy again...don't put anything else in your hair that has any chemicals, not even hair color...just spend the next couple of months nursing your hair back to life...i'm sure it's going to look so cute once it gets healthy again...if you decide in the future to get anything done to your hair...you could just iron it out or get it blow dried at the salon...you wont have to do anything permanent to it

What should i do with my african american hair/?

relaxers can be hard on the hair, if your not afraid to get your hair cut, you can cut of some of the damaged hair a little at a time, hair grows 1/2 inch a month on average, so you could go in and have them cut off a half inch a month to try and bring back your curls that way.

if you're looking for a chemical solution in the mean time, you can ask if they can Perm your hair curly..

but its prolly better just to let your hair heal rather than putting chemicals on it. putting more chemicals on already chemically damaged hair can actually cause your hair to fall off(chemical cut) which can cause split ends and make you hair look worse than it already was.

the stylist can recommend products to you that may help with the condition of your hair that will help it grow out more healthy.

hope it works out for you.

What should i do with my african american hair/?

well, it all depends on how 'dry' and unhealthy your straight hair is looking. trying to re-curl it will only make it worse, but will be less noticable because it's curled. i don't know of any 'chemicals' you can use, because as far as im concerned, curls need to be burnt into place. (like when you use a hair curler, NOT fire lol)

so if you really want permenant curls, go and get a perm. it's like one big hair curler that lasts until it grows out. (which takes a long time so you will only have to get it done about two times a year)

anyway good luck :)

How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

I have african american hair, and I want to know how to make it crimped or wavy/curly without using a crimping iron. My hair is a little past my shoulders. my hair is kinda fine. its not really nappy or anything like that.

How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

Take a shower then braid your hair and put in a bit of jel. Then go to bed and the next morning take the braids out and do not brush your hair just leave it.

Depending on how fine you want the crimp is how big you make the braids, if you want bigger waves do bigger braids. If you want small crimps makes many small braids.

It always turns out cute.

How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

When its wet put gel in it and put several braids in it. When it dryes take it out.

How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

well you can braid it. Keep it braided for about a couple days and take the braids out. Finger them loose and your done!

How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

corn roll them and leave it for a day and then take it out

How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

i think if you french braid your hair and leave it like that for like 30min. it will crimp...+ u can control the size by the size of the braid =P

How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

Ok I wear this style a lot and there are different products you can use to achieve this style. You can try either Aussie's Scrunch hair spray, Nexxus Humectruss, Salerm WET, and Elasta QP mango butter, or Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding. I braid my hair in about seven different french braids, three at the top and four at the bottom after I apply puddin or conditioner. I spray a little hair spray in them while they are drying. It stays moisturized all day especially with Elasta QP.

How can you keep wet african american hair from getting frizzy and poofy?

I have regular african american hair and i cant stand it, the only thing thats gooda about it is that after i wash it, it gets perfectly crimpy and it looks really pretty i wish that I could keep it like that but if i let it air dry it'll like turn into an afro. Is their any way to keep my cute wavy look nice without it getting frizzy and poofy? Like are their any products available that work, keep in mind that i have regular african american hair. pleasee help me.

How can you keep wet african american hair from getting frizzy and poofy?

I have tried to achieve that look many times over the summer. I have a relaxer and I used gel and Smooth n Shine Polishing spray. Eventually from me wetting my hair so much to keep that look it eventually started to break and my scalp became so dry. So, be careful what people suggest. Just a suggestion, as an alternative you can try to get a wave from like Gold n Hot (ceramic is less damaging to the hair) or even a crimpler. Just make sure you apply some heat protectant (like Motions Heat Protector or Aveda Brilliant Damage Control). Good luck!

How can you keep wet african american hair from getting frizzy and poofy?

You could always shave it off. Sinead O'Connor looked great.

How can you keep wet african american hair from getting frizzy and poofy?

add jell or add some braids to your hair styles and tie it up at night

How can you keep wet african american hair from getting frizzy and poofy?

John Freda makes a couple of products that will kind of help but it will NOT give you the exact result you are thinking of. He has a Hair Serum that you put in your hair while wet to help cut down on frizziness get the extra strength one. And he has a Curl spray to help keep hair curly. I have used them both and i have African American Hair that is not mixed with anything else. I use it when I don't want to put heat on my hair. BUT I have a relaxer too so if your hair is natural I don't know how it will work

How can you keep wet african american hair from getting frizzy and poofy?

Try Let's Jam Straightening cream. It works for me. all you do is after you wash your hair apply a generous amount of the product and you can blow dry or air dry. I don't know how thick your hair is but if you have thick hair it will releive some frizziness but not all.

How can you keep wet african american hair from getting frizzy and poofy?

use a deep leave in moisturizer like Neutragena Triple moisture, and use some curly pudding. Do a search for it, because I don't know the brand name. I have seen others results, but I have not tried it myself.

My hair is also crimpy-like while wet, but frizzy when dry. I just accept the frizzyness, and I LOVE MY HAIR.

Do those mixed chicks products really work well on african american hair?

I am african american, but my hair is naturally curly and looks like a mixed chick's hair. Recently someone told me to try this product line called mixed chicks even though i am fully african american. They told me that it would make my hair curl up the way it should. Has anyone ever heard of it or tried it? And how well does it really work on african american hair?

Do those mixed chicks products really work well on african american hair?

I am not african american, but I have very coarse wavy hair. I absolutely love the Mixed Chicks products. Go to www.mixedchicks.net and send them an email asking for a sample. The products have really calmed my hair down!

Swimming with African American Hair??? wayt 2 do?

Im n african american and im goin on vaction 4 a few dayz only but i kno ima b swimming. Iz braids healthy to geyt or iz it betta to leave my hair out?? I dont usual geyt braids!!!HELP ASAP

Swimming with African American Hair??? wayt 2 do?

I'm black. It doesn't matter what you do with your hair, you just have to wash the chlorine out afterward in the shower. And condition it so it won't be rough. If you don't usually get braids than you don't have to, if your braids are new the water probably won't make them frizzy, but if your braids been in for awhile the water will just make them frizzier. Also, if you just got your braids done, braid your "braids" into one braid and go in the water, when you take the braid down, your braids will be curly! Just don't forget to wash the chlorine out, thats the most important thing.

Swimming with African American Hair??? wayt 2 do?

braids cud work but u dont have to. u can just wash and condition ur hair after swimming. you cud spray some water in ur hair to help dilute the chlorine before u swim.

Swimming with African American Hair??? wayt 2 do?

see now im black, and braids will just get frizzy and your hair will get wet even in a shower cap so i really dont kno your hair will get wet anyways so i hope u use the advice.

Swimming with African American Hair??? wayt 2 do?

Get braids and as soon as the vacation is over make sure you take them out and wash your hair thoroughly. Anythime I go on vacation I do it and my hair is very healthy. You say it's only a four day vacation so get your hair done, take some braid sheen such as African Pride Braid Spray, and a head scarf. When you swim and stuff rinse your hair really good, spray the braid sheen, and wrap your hair up before you go to sleep. Four days... your hair won't fall out I guarantee it.

Swimming with African American Hair??? wayt 2 do?

dont use the braids. the chlorine and the hair wont mix. it will break out and dry out your hair. just wash and conditin your hair after each swim or at the end of the day if u swim every day. good luck, happy vacation!!

Imagine Fashion Designer African American Hair?

I need help with the African American hair plz can u describe what they look like or witch one they r next to thanks.

Imagine Fashion Designer African American Hair?

Im not quite sure of what you are asking. But if you are asking about what african american hair looks that is such a broad topic. African American hair texture, color, and lengths varies just like our skin color. In the fashion world you can do alot with african american hair but be careful of over heating, pulling and chemical processing of the hair cause it can be damaging. Natural looks especially pulled back hair looks best because its shows sophistication in fashion. Wigs and extension can work well cause its less stress on the hair.

Solia or Sedu Flat Iron for African-American Hair?

Hello. I was wondering which flat iron is better for African-American hair. I have read good things about the sedu and solia and was wondering which one was better (The solia is cheaper...) Which is the best product for African-American Hair (I have natural hair in a weave right now)? Also, how long does it last on the hair (a couple of days?) Which would last if you work out. Sorry for the abundence of questions, but it is really helpful to me.

Thanks. :)

Solia or Sedu Flat Iron for African-American Hair?

I have natural hair too the sedu works best in mine along with hask straight solutions usually i only have to flat iron once a week if that. But its not really humid where i'm from.

Solia or Sedu Flat Iron for African-American Hair?

i think sedu is better, if you have a stylist, try calling them

Solia or Sedu Flat Iron for African-American Hair?

Havent had a hair cut since..never???(african american hair)?

i have never had a hair cut since someone failed to tell me that you should have a hair cut. im 13 yrs old and my hair is about 4-6 inches long all around. if your african american, how many times do you cut your? what are the effects of not cutting/cuting your hair regularly? and since my hair is already short, should i even cut it at all?

please give as much info as possible. i want to make the right decision.

( will be giving out 10 points) and thumbs ups to good help.

thank you

Havent had a hair cut since..never???(african american hair)?

To prevent split\dead ends you should have your hair clipped every six to eight weeks, but if your hair is healthy then I'd suggest every three to four months depending on your hair type. But the best advise I could give you would be to go to a recommended salon\beautician and get your hair consulted on. And I mean a professional not someone in the neighborhood who does hair. You want someone who paid to learn how to help your hair. good luck

Havent had a hair cut since..never???(african american hair)?

in 13 years you never had a haircut, and your hair is only 6 inches long? how does that work

you need to get a haircut every couple months to get rid of the split ends and such, go get one! right now!

Havent had a hair cut since..never???(african american hair)?

Having your hair cut is only of benefit if the ends are dry/damaged/split.

If your hair is in good condition %26amp; you are happy with the length/style, then there is no reason at all to get it cut.

Lucky You!! :)

** For the the previous answer;

It is only 4-6 inches long because of the tight curl, if you straightened it out it would be 3-4 times that length!

How can I get my African American hair to be silky with the following products:?

I relax my hair, use a flat iron not everyday though, I use a really good shampoo and conditioner. And I just bought some conditioning hairdress and some hair serum. But is it better to put the hairdress on first and then the serum to the wet hair? Or vice versa? Or should I add the hair serum after I've flat ironed my hair? How do you( other African American females) make your hair silky like? Please help! Thanks!

How can I get my African American hair to be silky with the following products:?

You do both

put product on while you are flat ironing

and after to style.

Put more on after you're done flat ironing

How can I get my African American hair to be silky with the following products:?

You add the hair serum before you apply heat to your hair.

I use Creme of Nature Shampoo and Conditioner.

Isoplus Oil Sheen Hair spray.

I roll up my hair every night and use a silk scarf plus silk pillowcases to sleep on. I do not use heat on my hair.

I also use Doo Grow hair care products also Dr. Miracles hair care products.

How can I get my African American hair to be silky with the following products:?

Use the hair dress while it is wet...but don't use to much because after your hair is dry you might have a light film(product build up) on your hair. To be honest I like to wash my hair and put no products in it while it is drying...when you have the time I suggest wrapping it and letting it air dry...it feels so much better!!! Also flat iron using a ceramic iron and after apply the serum. And to maintain the look... at night apply a small amount of the hair dress and brush it well...wrap your hair and sleep on a satin pillowcase. Hope I helped a little. Be Blessed!!!

How can I get my African American hair to be silky with the following products:?

for my hair i got it permed in a salon with this:

http://www.softsheen-carson.com/images/p...

then for the hair care i use:

-Shampoo:http://www.softsheen-carson.com/images/p...

-Conditioner:http://www.softsheen-carson.com/images/p...

after towel drying i use a Dark%26amp;Lovely leave in conditioner they didnt have a picture of it on the site but it looks like this but with a blue label:http://www.softsheen-carson.com/images/p...

the leave in conditioner is much better than pink oil or any greaser products because it moisturizes ur hair without leaving it greasey instead leaving it free and soft!!

i dont use a flat iron because doin this alone helps ur hair to stay soft to touch and the flat iron will damage you hair!!

But once in a while just if you are goin out maybe u shud straighten it just for more movement and a bit more shine for you hair to change and be silky this will take 3 wks if you use the leave in conditioner everyday and wash every 5 days!! hope this helped good look!!!=]

How can I get my African American hair to be silky with the following products:?

i have natural hair, when i straighten my hair i use isoplus pressing oil and i use an electric straightening comb and it comes out silky, when i had a relaxer i relaxed my hair with Organic Root Stimulator's Olive Oil Relaxer, I washed my hair with Motions Conditioning Shampoo, I used a flat iron about every other week and i used IC Shea Butter Spry when I used it, my hair came out great

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

I have African American hair, and I don't straighten it that often, my hair is a little less than shoulder length when its straight. But my question is, how can I make it fall or flow when I straighten it? Usually if I straighten it it's stick straight and has no body to it really and if I turn my head the hair kinda just gets stuck, it doesnt just fall back down..hopefully that makes sense. So any answers you could give me on how to straighten it so it has body and stuff would be greatly appreciated!

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

Most African-haired people with very sleek-looking hair have a hair weave or a perm, both of which are a bit expensive. Your hair is just going to be a bit stiff, naturally (yeah, I've got a bit of that going on, too... ). I'd suggest trying a different straightening conditioner. I use one that is made in a salon in Boston, so that won't help much, but just play around until you find one that works for you.

If you're not using a straightening conditioner, do so! It will make the hair softer and sleeker (and will prevent damage).

If you're willing to shell out the money, go to a stylist (ask particularly for one who knows how to deal with african-american hair), and figure out what she does. Most stylists are more than happy to help!

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

perm it

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

try one of those hair straighteners.. dont kno exacly wat they called.. but my sister uses it n her hair seems to b pretty straight

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

i grew up in a house with to sister's and the best thing i can tell you is use pink hair moisturizer

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

The best advice I could give you is to put perm on it.

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

use an electric straightener... And simply run it through your hair try this instead of the chemical which tend to break the hair off and damage it if not done properly... God bless****

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

yes i think you should perm it also,, go to the shop and let them know whats going on and they should be able to help you i'm sure

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

OMG I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN!! My hair does the same thing...when my head moves or the wind blows or something, my hair will go in that direction and will just STAY there! Because of this I have always had a problem with combing my hair to much...people thought I was concieted but really they just didnt understand my crazy hair delimma. But sorry I cant truly answer your question cuz I have the same problem...I just wanted to relate.

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

Most of the time we use grease to make our hair shine. Believe it or not...the grease makes our hair heavy. Too heavy to flow like you want it to. After a good shampooh, try blow drying it before styling it. It usually works for me.

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

i know what yor talking about i see with hair liek taht all the time sticking yp off there neck right?? that's means you have thick adn and your using some kind of oil/gresse that's too heavy in your hair that weight it down, find out waht your using and eamil me

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

straighteners

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

after you press your hair love you may want to use a light oil sheen that should do the job

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

try getting it chemically straightened. i no some one with you hair type that had it dont and it worked for her

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

Get a professional hair stylist to chemically relax your hair and straighten it. Make sure they know what they are doing. If they try to wash your hair before they apply the relaxer, they don't know what they are doing. Be sure they time how long they leave the relaxer on your hair. They just can't leave it on your hair all day or it will overprocess and break off. Also, make sure they base your scalp with petroleum or hair grease. They are also suppose start applying the relaxer on the top of your head then do your edges last. It will cost a pretty penny. Months later when the relaxer starts to where off, to keep my hair from getting "stuck", I wash and condition it (dove is good), then I spray a little holding spray on my hair. Once my hair dries completely, I flat iron it ( I use the maxiglide) and after I'm done I grease my scalp lightly and spray a little oil sheen (motions is a good brand) all over my hair.

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

Don't use grease, that makes it stiff, instead use oil

Question about my African American hair. Please help!?

first a perm would make it more manageable and also don't load it down with grease, we always think that the more grease the better but not in all cases. I only use sheen like Isoplus and not too much of it. if you condition and use a leave in really helps.
