African American hair care question?

IS IT TRUE YOU SHOULD NOT RINSE YOUR HAIR WITH COLD WATER or ICE COLD WATER WHEN YOU GET A RELAXER?

African American hair care question?

yes it is true, cold water, closes the cuticle on the hair shaft, closing it up, and not allowing the relaxer to penetrate the hair.

Every time you wash your hair, at first, you'll notice the hair doesn't want to get saturated, it takes a while to get to the scalp and through the hair, that's because the cuticle is closed not allowing the hair to saturate. With warm/hot water it opens up.

You can use cold at the very end of your process, before styling, to close the cuticle, it creates more shine and softness.

African American hair care question?

no its not.

i have done it before. it wasnt fun but it didnt cause damage.

my stylist was working at a place wear they didnt pay the bill (ghetto huh?) so they turned off the hot water and i had to get it rinsed with ice cold water in winter. needless to say i got half off my relaxer lol :)
