Top down, to respond to your rude retort. African Americans are not the only ones that call themselves Insert here/americans. Some Chinese call themselves Chinese-Americans, because so many "european americans" want to call them Japanese or Chinese when they may be are from the Philippine Islands or Thailand, or Cambodia. Some europeans DO use the "american" in their name as well. "JAP" (Jewish american Princess/Prince) And being as we do have some people that are African Refugees on sponsorships or visas that are in fact AFRICAN, but not american, I see that the labels fit. What else are African Americans supposed to call ourselves? Its not our fault that many of the European Americans have stronger ties to their countries than many african americans. There are scottish fairs, highland games, piasano games etc and you are able to most often times trace your lineage back to your country of origin. The last name that you have is traceable. African Americans were deprived of that ability so if calling ourselves African Americans helps us retain even a little bit of a tie to our homeland, then who are you to berate and condemn for it? Our surnames that we have are the names of the owners of our relatives. African American is the only name we know is ours. How dare you begrudge us that.

Just curious, when you talk about "white" people do you use the term European-Americans? How about when you talk about Chinese people, do you use the term, "Sino-Americans"? Or, is it only the ***** population that is referred to by their continent of origin, remembering that most haven't seen the shores of Africa in 250 to 300 years? Just curious?

I was a cosmetologist for a few years, and I was license by the board.

What you need to do is make an appointment and let a professional look at it.

If you want it straighter get a relaxor done by a professional because you are less likely to have damage that'way. Then have it shaped up and have them show you a

few different ways to wear your hair.
