Hello. I have African-American textured hair. I have had my hair in braids forever and I got my hair flat-ironed at a salon, but it puffed back up in less than ten minutes. Save and get a GOOD iron and invest in hair serum as well that will keep your hair down.
Getting a better flat iron will not only give you far better results but will probably be made of ceramic, the end result which will lead to less damage to your hair.
Invest in some hair sprays too, to put in after and to add some weight to your hair to keep it from puffing.
I use Alternatives by soft sheen hair spray.
