How do you make african american hair crimp without using a crimpin iron.?

I have african american hair, and I want to know how to make it crimped or wavy/curly without using a crimping iron. My hair is a little past my shoulders. my hair is kinda fine. its not really nappy or anything like that.

Take a shower then braid your hair and put in a bit of jel. Then go to bed and the next morning take the braids out and do not brush your hair just leave it.

Depending on how fine you want the crimp is how big you make the braids, if you want bigger waves do bigger braids. If you want small crimps makes many small braids.

It always turns out cute.

When its wet put gel in it and put several braids in it. When it dryes take it out.

i think if you french braid your hair and leave it like that for like 30min. it will crimp...+ u can control the size by the size of the braid =P

Ok I wear this style a lot and there are different products you can use to achieve this style. You can try either Aussie's Scrunch hair spray, Nexxus Humectruss, Salerm WET, and Elasta QP mango butter, or Miss Jessie's Curly Pudding. I braid my hair in about seven different french braids, three at the top and four at the bottom after I apply puddin or conditioner. I spray a little hair spray in them while they are drying. It stays moisturized all day especially with Elasta QP.
