Is it possible to grow african american hair 8 inches in 2 years?

That is my long term goal. I need advice from experienced people. My hair is shoulder length now. I've just got a relaxer and my ends trimmed. Usually my hair is very dry. (my mom compares it to straw, sigh...) I've used lots of different shampoos like pantene, doo gro, dove, tresemme and they all seem to dry my hair out more. No oils seem to penetrate my hair and scalp except baby oil. I really need some help. I heard that Mane n tail products work good for dry hair and scalp. Is this true for african american hair? I also discovered this site: www.growafrohairlong.com which said that braiding hair helps it grow and holds moisture. Who should I believe? Any other suggestions.

I think i know a product that will help your hair.It is called wild growth hair oil and it makes the hair really soft . I braided my hair for a year along with using the product and it really repaired the damage. You can get more information from wildgrowth.com

It could be possible, but I have no idea. My hair is pretty dry most of the time too, nothing seems to work on me.

My hair is braided now and is still very dry. I can't wait till take it out.

Yes, Besides keeping your hair clean with a regular shampoo and conditioner you should use a moisturizer. I wouldn't recommend Mane n' Tail because it contains rather harsh chemicals. You might want to use Mizani or Dudley products which are designed for relaxed African American hair. Plus, always consider using a leave in conditioner (Infusium 23) to retain the proper ingredients in your hair. Here's a tip: Virgin Olive Oil will stop all your dryness. Not only is it natural but mothers use it to get rid of cradle cap in their infants for decades. So if it will work for them you know it will do the same for you....

First off, stop using baby oil. It is not meant for the hair shaft %26amp; could actually be contributing to the dryness of your hair by altering %26amp; preventing the ph level in your hair to return to normal.

Yes you can grow your hair 8 inches in 2 years. And you can still relax your hair. You'll have to be diligent though.

All of the shampoos that you've mentioned are not formulated for the special needs of relaxed hair. DO NOT USE Mane %26amp; Tail if you'd like your hair to grow.

I suggest trying a shampoo %26amp; conditioner with silicon in it %26amp; that have extra moistuzering power. Some good ones are Parnevu %26amp; Motion's. I recommend the Motion's b/c no matter what grade of hair or condition it is in, the conditioner penetrates it very well. (It will give you that silky feel you're looking for)

Also buy a leave in conditioner. Infusium is an excellent choice. Again I also highly recommend the motions line (%26amp; no I don't work for them but they got my "do" under control)

Another misconception is that oils provide moisture. They don't, they actually lock in any moisture already there. So, if you've got none, then you're actually locking the moisture out!

I recommend hitting up a local beauty supply store. Get Motions Lavishing Shampoo %26amp; Condtioner; Oil Moisturizer %26amp; Hair Mayonaisse. Each one will cost about $4. Get olive or coconut oil out of your cabinet or buy a small bottle $4 tops!

Here's my secret: Wash %26amp; condition with Motions. Mix 2-3 tablespoons of Hair Mayo with 1 egg %26amp; 1 tablespoon olive/coconut oil. Mix until well blended %26amp; smooth in texture, apply to hair, cover with cap, sit under dryer or wrap with hot towel for about 15 min. Rinse thoroughly. Prior to blow dry or roller set, use another 2 tablespoons olive/coconut oil (locking in the moisture) feel free to allow this on your scalp. Then blow dry or under dryer as normal.

I Promise your hair will come out straighter %26amp; silkier than ever before. (%26amp; for under $25) then every day or every other, hit it up with some moisturizer and BAM!

Your hair will be too fine! (Don't tell your secret right away though!)

Let me know, email me....

Good luck!
