Any product suggestions for naturally curly African-American hair?

Hi!

I am an african american young lady who had stop perming my hair years ago in order to let my naturally curly grow in. Now that I no longer have a perm, it's like getting to know my hair all over again. I have tried several products (i.e. creams, leave-ins, foams, lotions, etc.) but can't find the right combo for my hair. The products either leave my hair too frizzy, too dry, too hard, too big, etc. Just to give you an idea of what my texture looks like, it's similar to Kelis's hair was before she recently cut it of or like Beyonce's hair in it's natural state.

Truthfully, I don't know but this site's forum is especially for african american women and discusses hair products. It is really good and might give you a few ideas.

I too have curly hair and I feel your pain. I tend to like Pink Moisture products. They give the hair moisture without creating mass volume or a dry frizzy look. these products are available at Sally Beauty Supply.

My mom is mixed and I just look like a white boy with big lips and a fro. However, I straighten (perm) my hair and so does my mom. However, there are people in our family that go with the natural curly look. Girl I feel you because I know half of the idiots that read this don't know what a perm is to a black girl. Eww don't use Pink products like the person above suggested. They leave your hair greasy. Also when your hair is dry and you put it on it makes it looks shiny...but it looks like shiny frizz which is not attractive. I tried going with the curly hair too, but I like to change it up so that I don't have the same look every year. I really like the Ion products for moisturizing. However, I could never find a good daily leave-in. But their wash-out conditioners are really good. The best thing I can think of for you is a product called Freedom. It's an alternative to perming and doesn't have ANY chemicals. You can just leave it in for twenty-30 minutes and put curlers in your hair so that you don't lose any of your curl. It gives you really soft curls.

There is a product line invented by a biracial lady where I live in Sacramento called CURLS. She invented it because most products for african american hair were too heavy, oily or drying. The mainstream products just made her hair a ball of fluff. I will put the link below.
