I have thick, wavy hair. My dad's side of the family is Jewish, so imagine Middle Eastern hair in blonde (I don't know why I'm blonde. Everyone in my family is brunette, including great-grandparents...maybe I'm adopted???)
Anyway. I know that I wouldn't be able to use a relaxer or anything with too much moisturizer/oil in it, but I was wondering if there were any products that are too heavy for thin, "white" hair but wouldn't leave my hair too weighed down or greasy looking.
Like maybe a product that worked well on Latina hair???
Or tell me if you think that I need to stick to my white people hair products.

THere is a product line called Mixed Chicks, which was designed by two bi-racial women who had in between hair and no hair products that worked on their hair.
I use it on my son's curly hair, and it makes it beautiful and shiny without leaving it greasy.
I have only used the leave-in conditioner on his hair after I wash it or wet it. This is all I need for his hair. They also have other products in their line such as shampoo...
The website is www.mixedchicks.net
Check it out....It worked wonders on my son's curls!!

My husband used to have longer hair. he is black and puerto rican. His hair is very thick and curly, but not coarse. I would get him the pantene pro-v line for women of color, comes in a brown bottle. I was able to use a lot of it too, my hair is thin wavy and naturally oily.

Use olive oil spray. Its really gentle and popular for kids' hair. Since your hair isn't technically of that consistency, I would apply it while your hair is still wet and then style it. Maybe blow dry the roots to avoid getting that weighed down look. If its still making your hair look oily, you could try diluting the spray.
Also, I have a friend who is white and has very thick, curly hair. She uses the Pantene products "Relaxed and Natural" and it works great on her hair. Makes it very managable.

I go to this Dominican salon and I see all types of hair in there; from thin to thick. The trick to healthy looking hair is to have it washed and conditioned, roller set then blown out with a brush. Most Dominicans use a MIRACLE conditioner called Diez en Uno (Ten in One). This is a must to healthy hair. The moistuizer they use, is Fantasia Frizz Buster Serum. It is good to wrap your hair, then when you take it out and style it, rub a little serum in your palms and then lightly on top your hair. Regular deep-conditions are great for your hair and if you have really thick hair, just ask the stylist to thin it out. Dominicans know how to handle hair really well, and you will have healthy hair that flows with you!!!! check it out

All that hype abut what this product will do and what that one will do is mostly just that.
A cheap shampoo will get your hair just as clean as a costly one. Glycerin is a moisturizing agent and if very cheap. It takes a very small amount of it.
Conditioners are oils of one type or another.
There are some good products out there and for everyone that is advertised and cost a lot there are generic ones just as good for a lot less money.
A good hair brush is worth having and using as it will draw the natural oils from your scalp[ through your hair. Some wash the hair much too often and have no natural oil to work with.

I have the same problem...only im actually half african american and i have HUGE and CURLY hair that is so THICK it puts macy grey to shame. well anyways i also dont like my hair looking all greasy looking so i use this palmoil stuff after shampooing, leave it in for about 3 minutes and rinse. Then i use a heavy grease while in the shower leave that in for a while then rinse. Lastly condition. I'd also use a light oil that you can find anywhere like sally beaty stores. It works for me w/o the greasy look and it also works for ma but she doesnt use heavy oil, she uses light hair grease and she has THIN hair.

DO NOT under ANY circumstances, use an African American relaxer on your hair unless you are African American . I am really trying to help here, so please listen. I am african American and I know about this. If you use a relaxer system on a Caucasian it WILL damage your hair for a long time, or worse, make it fall out. And if the cream gets in your eyes, it can cause temporary or even permanent vision loss. I have seen this happen many times. If you want to straighten your hair, it is best to go to a salon and get it professionally done if you have never used a kit from a store before. It may be pricey, but it is worth it- and much better than having your hair falll out.
