Why is it so hard to manage my hair?(African American hair)?

I get my hair relaxed, not very often though since my hair can go without a perm for quite some time. I moistureize it about every other night and then wrap it in a scraf before bed. In the mouring i try to do the simpliest style such as a pony tail and it takes me about half an hour! This is driving my crazy! and I hate when my hair looks a mess, because then I would feel a mess! My hair comes just below my shoulder and is really thick. What can i do to get control of my hair?

you ever think about doing braid outs or bantu knots? Braidouts give a defined curl and bantu knots use small sections of hair that makes it easy to control and it a change from regular ponytails and buns

i have the same problems, i use white ppl products sometimes but i would recommend Paul Mitchell it's a little expensive but worth every penny

You could chemically straighten it, but personally I think fuzzy hair looks super-stylish on african americans!! :D

You could also spend about 15 minutes a day straightening it with a straightener.

Best Wishes!

since you get relaxers, you should try drywrapping your hair at night %26amp; using a silk or satin scarf to keep it in place

girl, it takes me bout 30 minutes to put mine in a ponytail too. i relax my hair bout every 4 weeks because the newgrowth comes in quickly. i, too, wrap my hair every night. normally, i wear my hair down, but when i work, i put it in the ponytail. i try to avoid putting heat on it, but if i have too, i apply heat protectant mousse, by shine...wait till it dries completely(dont wanna fry the hair), then i flat iron it. my hair isnt as long as yours, but mine barely touches the shoulders.
