What does a texturizer do to natural African-American hair?

My hair is naturally curly, my parents are from Trinidad (an island in the Caribbean) and two of my grandparents are Indian (from India, not native-American) - so my hair isn't completely nappy. I've never had a perm--but I'm 16 and I usually braid my hair in cornrows...and I'm sick of doing that- my hair dresser is Dominican and she suggested that I get a texturizer--what exactly will a texturizer do to my hair? (i.e is it permanent, how is it different from a relaxer/perm if it is,etc. ) Thanks.

What does a texturizer do to natural African-American hair?

It is the mildest form of chemical relaxer, it will loosen the curl but not straighten in, or in or case if you decide to blow your hair straight it will stay a littler longer, go to a beauty supply house, like Sally's, or a place where the people are trained, not a family place they will be happy to help you.

a texturizer is suppose to loosen up your natural curls pattern, making your hair look curly. It's suppose to be temporary but im not sure how true that is,becasue my family friend tried it and said its no diffrent from a perm.

a perm is just permantly straightening your hair.

It's basically a mild relaxer that loosens the natural curl pattern of the hair and produces easier manageability.

What's different from a texturizer and a relaxer is the texturizer (or mild relaxer) is left on the hair for a very short time. It is not combed throughout the hair to avoid the hair from becoming straight.

men use it to get waves and most women (at least the ones I deal with) use it to create volume in their hair. It uses the same chemicals as relaxers so you have to ad-hear to the dangers that they cause. It just keep more of your hair shaft in tack verses the relaxer.

No it will only take out most of the curl pattern. so you hair will become less thick.
