Hair question for african american hair?

I really would like to know what your routine is when it comes to your hair. My hair is always dry and I think I should change my routine. I really need help with what kind of routine I should do. Like after shampoo and conditioning, do you automatically blow dry it straight? My problem is that my hair is incredibly thick. I just need information about hair care after shampooing and conditioning.

Once a week:

Wash:

Baking soda scrub/ Apple Cider Vinegar rinse

or

Nuetrogena Triple Moisture

Deep Condition:

Organic Root Stimulator Olive Oil Replenishing Pak(protein)

or

Neutrogena Triple Moisture deep recovery hair mask(moisturizing)

or

Nexxus Humectress(moisturizing conditioner)

Air Dry:

always

Oil Scalp:

oyin burnt sugar hair pomade

coconut oil

sweet almond oil

Try air drying your hair to keep some of the moisture in, then spritz some coconut oil or sweet almond oil onto your hair before you flat-iron. If your hair natural then you should round-brush it dry with a blow-dryer and then go over your hair with a flat-iron although this will severly dry your hair out. Which is why you should eep condition once a week. Roller sets are really good for thick roots. You can air dry with the rollers and then doobie wrap the hair.

Well my routine is: Wash my hair, condition it for about 15-20 min at least, then spray a leave in conditioner. After that, I blow dry my hair until dry, then apply a moisterizer (sp) to my scalp after it's dry, and style as normal. I wear lots of wigs, so every evening I take the wig off, and every other day I apply hair mousterizer. I don't use a lot of heat on my natural hair, because this can dry it out as well. Hope this helps, good luck!

Maybe your using the wrong kind of shampoo and conditioner. You need something that will hydrate your hair. Definitely don't blow dry your hair after its wet, african american hair breaks easily, especially when its wet. Try using a leave in product after you finish washing your hair and don't wash your hair too often because it strips the natural oils from your hair. Hope this helps.

We have like the same hair- only im black and white. My mom is black so she is great for teaching me things about my hair. So this is what I do to keep my incredibly thick frizzy hair under control.

I shampoo and with Creme of Nature and condition with Aussie 3 minute miracle. Creme of Nature is for our hair and Aussie, even though it seems like a "white product", works wonders!

Then I towel dry my hair and then my mom put mousse and cocunut oil in my hair and puts it in braids. She puts in about 10. Like 5 on the top and five or 6 on the bottom. We let it air dry. I usually go to sleep like this. And I ALWAYS put on a scarf and a durag.

When I take it out on the morning I have pretty, bouncy curls.

My routine may be a bit different from yours. I am 100% natural.

I wash my hair once a week with Pantene Pro-V Relaxed and Natural. I allow the conditioner to sit for 5 minutes then rinse it. After shampooing I put organic air oil on my hair and oil my scalp. I oil my hair everyday. I never put an sort of heat or chemicals on my hair.

In response to your questions, I never put heat on my hair. No flat ironing, no blow drying, nothing! I wash my hair at night and let it air dry in the winter. In the summer, I wash in the morning and let it air dry during the day. I got my organic hair oil from a local beauty supply. I searched on Sally's website and it wasn't listed. It's by Africa's Best and it's called Organic Hair Oil.

I wash my hair weekly and do a deep condition. Also use a ceramic styling tool that will help keep the moisture in your hair.

Another suggetstion would be buy a hard hat dryer (sally's has them) and just use wrap/setting lotion comb your hair straight and let it dry. There will be more body and less heat directly added.

you should get a mositurizer shampoo and condtioner. stop blow drying your hair, because that is very damaging to the hair. you should set your hair instead.

Theses are some things you can try:do a pre-poo before washing your hair ..a prepoo is applying oil or conditioner on your hair for about 1hr before washing to help retain natural oils.

for pre poo ideas look here:http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/printer_...

you can also try hot oil treatments.A good idea is to use an organic sulfate free shampoo it helps not to strip off all the hair natural oil that means lesser dry feeling. After shampooing and conditioning apply a leave in and an moisturizer then seal in the moisture with a light oil ex. jojoba.I hope this helped you good luck!
